Summer is a time when a taste of Hollywood comes
to Grand Valley State University.
This is the fifteenth year that Grand Valley students worked
on every aspect of a film.
"The Dark Room" was written and directed
by Grand Valley instructor Z. Eric Yang.
His films have been showcased in festivals across the country
and in his native China.
"The Dark Room" is about an aging photographer who struggles
to embrace what he thinks he's lost.
More than 20 students enrolled in the six-week summer course,
post-production is done during a course in the fall.
The instructors and professionals who work
on the film are dedicated to the students gaining much needed
and valued experience.
You get to really get the hands-on experience,
you get to really become and craft yourself
into that filmmaker that you want to be.
Students are involved in workshops and fieldtrips
that expose them to the complete production process.
"The Dark Room" will premiere in the spring.
