Hi :D
If you speak english and wish to understand
what the hell am I saying in this video,
please make sure you turn on the captions,
otherwise, please make sure you don't suck at understanding spanish,
because that's the languaje I'm going to use while talking.
Thanks :D
Hi
To be honest I was expecting to do this sooner but,
I guess I'll work with what I have left.
I don't know exactly why am I answering to this video,
I just saw that meekakitty liked it and... I felt like watching too.
At first I had no idea what it was about,
but it didn't take long before I realized it was an answer to Tony Harris,
Comic artist, quite known inside his enviroment.
Tony decided to make a comment about a group of cosplayer girls;
cosplayer is someone who makes costumes to look like
some anime or manga character, this definition has lately covered
cartoons, movies and comics.
Mister Harris' discomfort revolves around considering
female cosplayers as "fake geek girls".
They know nothing about the character they are dressing up as,
and the only thing they do is posing half naked
so they can call the "true fans" of comic books attention,
according to him, of course.
His anger is based on the ignorance shown by these girls,
because, inside his thoughts, and I hope his investigations too,
otherwise they'd be accusations without basis.
He thinks they have no right to be part of any comic-related event.
Why? Easy: They know nothing about comics and, just as I mentioned,
they're just low self-esteemed chiks,
who seek to call the "nerds" attention and "feed" from it.
they don't appreciate "nerds", and under different circunstances,
they would even make fun of them.
Now, after sort of seeing through his line of thought
and analizing points of view, I must say:
I don't agree with any of his conjectures,
and it even is a little bit too ridiculous,
someone writting a large essay
-I'm calling it essay just because saying semi-coherent vomit of words
is too rough-
whose sexist tone seeks to overexcite and annoy anyone who reads it
This being said, and after realising our pints of view are alike,
I decided to see your video again, and again and again...
At first I thought it just was the way you said ***.
I mean seriously, I even edited a copy of your video in a way you only say
"big ***", during 10 minutes.
But then I realized it was something a bit more deep.
An annoyance.
The lack of knowledge about some sentences you mentioned crossed my mind.
I investigated dudebro, dissed, the *** Catalina wine mixer...
I found a new sex act, but the annoyance was still there.
Lastly, I threw myself over the information contained inside those links
you kindly provided , hoping this annoyance was just
curiosity about the subject but... it wasn't that either.
The Big Picture briefly explains his lack of understanding.
Girls willing to wear costumes and go to comic conventions shows
"nerds" - or however you wanna call them- are turning into an attractive
and notorious social group.
Shortly after this he explains the origins and history of supergirl,
the original nerd.
Randomredux's opinion is more about growing up,
thinking of an adult having repulsion and marginalization ideas
towards someone just because it's introducing new interpretations
about something sounds ridiculous, besides he clarifies
these girls aren't actually cosplaying for them,
but only because they enjoy conventions,
it's childish and inmmature to complain about that.
Jemma Salume created a fun drawing about this issue,
I laugued for a while.
About Cheyenne Wise...
Whatever. After thinking trough this over and over again,
I simply could not find an answer,
if your video is nice, your points of view are more than understandable,
you look attractive to me and I'm totally ok with pink,
then ¿why was I still getting annoyed?
the answer hit me when I was washing dishes quietly in the morning.
What really bothers me is that, in some sort of way,
your response is very similar to Tony Harris' post.
Now please don't take it wrong, this is my opinion only,
and I'm aware I can be mistaken,
but I kind of needed to say it and, honestly,
I checked out your video even more times just to make sure
this thought wasn't just a stupid and fast idea
that would vanish in time.
I can understand women feeling so intimidated by this kind of guys
that that they decide to not enjoy something they actually like.
It might be truth that when you say something different,
these "nerds" start crying around, complaining so hard
you have to leave that place.
I agree about your anger feeling,
these dissoriented people saying woman are using costumes
just to call for attention,
when men have been doing it since forever,
and there seems nobody thought of this idea untill now.
What I don't get is, after saying Harris has no right to decide
wich women to respect, and also every women deserved the same respect,
forwarding into the video you say to this "group"
they are becoming the ***
that used to smash their heads into the lockers at high school,
and end up saying they are so arrongant
even Tony Stark woulb be ashamed of them.
Well if that isn't lack of respect
-In an elegant way I must say-
towards someone,
then ¿where did that opinion about equality of respect end?
It's simple, It's about paralelism
You say Harris and individuals like Harris are the reason why
women feel too intimidated to venture inside these kind of environments.
Effing Harris says cosplayers of this kind are the reason
Comic conventions are swarming with people,
leaving comicbook artists in a background.
Then you continue stating that Harris
and those who agree with his line of thought are digging thieir graves
Effing Harris says these "exhibitionist" girls
interested only in wearing costumes without knowing anyithing
about the comic it came from,
makes him angry and his head vibrates because of this.
I imagine it's anger,
might be diabetes tough.
You don't accuse every comic lover of this sexist,
elitist and childish behaviour,
because Kevin Smith is actually quite nice.
Harris knows some actually nice girls who love and read comics,
but they're the exception to the rule.
You say it doesn't matter what women say or achieve,
it always seems what they do is to call attention
Effing Harris says all this costume and press parade
is being made over comic artists' shoulders,
people that seem to loose relevance.
clothes change, room change, yay!!
You comment it's ridicuouls, sad and pathethic to see
a group of "nerd" individuals crying because
they can't accept different points of view,
yet you are complaining and condemning them for their way of thinking.
Maybe I'm overthinking it, but these details called my attention
enough to make a video response, as humble and badly illuminated as it looks.
It's a chaos of words falling over the people
like a gigantic tempest full of hate and resentment,
in the end only generating more hate and resentment.
I'm not upset by your points of view,
just as I mentioned earlier, They are similar to mine,
but if you have to resort to an aggressive and "intimidating" method
- In a subtle way of course, I can guarantee you're smarter than me -
I can see nothing much is going to change inside that environment.
And as an immidiate example is the same Tony Effing Harris,
after receiving euphoricly exalted comments,
he decided to answer again, in which way?
Well he started by asking for a public apology
explaining that it was never his intrention to make anyone
who read his post mad,
and he admitted that that post was a verbal slip,
the worst mistake he could have ever comitted though his life.
*giggles*
Of course not. His answer,
even more firm about his drastic, sexist idea,
was still condemning the "fake geek girls", but in a more open,
insulting, angry way.
Besides, I think Harris more than being sexist
- and far away from being stupid -
is a guy that's been losing relevance. I mean
- from my point of view -
a character of that importance making such a weird soup
full of insults and primitivisms shows the guy
has ran out of media to call for attention,
so. What does someone slowly but surely losing importance do?
Creates controversy, He starts talking about something
that angers people easily and then. Pow!
Suddenly this Mr. Harris is known even by guys like me,
who honestly prefer reading Garcia Marquez over a comic book.
All this stuff confuses and disgruntles me,
but I've said everything I felt like saying,
I end my video here, thanks for watching me and I hope
I could explain myself in an accurate way.
