New for 2013, right out of the wrapper. I mean this thing has not even got a finger
print on it yet. This is the Cobra AMP Cell iron. I’m with Tom Preece, King of Cobra,
that’s what they call you, to tell us all about this iron. Tom first of all tell us
about the features and benefits about it and then more importantly, people who are buying
club, especially on Golfbidder, want to know will it suit them? Ok. What handicap and what
type of player will it suit. Ok. I would say this club is probably for the 5 plus handicapper.
There’s a lot of golfers out there, but certainly it’s a game improvement iron.
It’s very forgiving, it’s very easy to hit. But it’s in a traditional shape that
a single digit player will still like when they look down at it. But it features a lot
of technology. It’s a multi alloy design, meaning we use a different metal in the face
than we use in the perimeter. So we use a very high strength, 17-4 plate material which
basically to the golfer means it’s thinner, it’s going to flex more, it’s going to
create more distance. People say trampoline effect. Ok, it’s like a trampoline. That’s
plasma welded to a softer, 4-31 stainless steel body. The softer hosel makes it very
easy for us to make changes to loft and lie, and customise the iron. So if he goes to a
club fitter he can change it no problem? Exactly. Most of the other irons on the market that
have high strength steel are difficult to customise. This one’s got the best of both
worlds. Definitely a distance driven design. The name Cell, AMP Cell comes from the fact
that we actually have cell pockets inside the iron that are invisible to the golfer
but help us move the weight strategically in each iron to locate the centre of gravity
very precisely and move more weight out to the perimeter and make it more forgiving.
Now does that change throughout the set then? It changes all the way through the set. Each
iron is designed specifically for its purpose. Ok, so to summarise, for the 5 handicap and
up, the Cobra AMP Cell, new for 2013. What about offset? It’s got a little bit of offset.
A little more or so than our forged blade, the AMP Cell Pro. Again, that’s more for
game improvement style. I would say it doesn't have as much offset as other irons on the
market so the 8 or 9 handicapper is still going to like the looks of it but it’s got
enough offset to help that mid to high handicapper. I think it looks fantastic. Certainly something
that I would use. So Tom thanks a million for showing us the new Cobra AMP Cell, brand
new out the wrapper for 2013.
