Hi, it's Doris
and now I'm going to tell you where to go to get that pick-me-up in the middle of the afternoon
Say you want a little cup of coffee, and
you're not at home to brew your own, then I have a couple of tips for you.
Sure, Fairfield County has lots of Starbuck's,
and Dunkin' Donuts, but I'm going to tell you the secret spots.
If you're on your way to Westport, you might want to stop at Doc's.
Doc's is a great little place, they have a spot for you to actually sit and sip
your coffee. It's in an old sailing hangar
so it's a unique space. They usually have about five brews
going -- one of them named "sledgehammer" to make sure you're wide awake when you get on that
choo-choo. If you're out doing some shopping and you're at Stew Leonard's
believe it or not, they make a pretty darn good cup of coffee, so that's another
spot. In Norwalk you can head over to
Fat Cat Joe. Love the name. They also have organic goodies
to go with your coffee. And most of the coffee they brew is
fair trade. If you're in Fairfield, you might want to try
Las Vetas. Las Vetas not only has great coffee, but they
have entertainment, so it might be a nice spot for you to go at the end of the day.
If you like grinding your own beans, then I think you should head down to
Zumbach's. Zumbach's has been in operation since 1999
and at any given day you can find Doug roasting his own
beans. He actually travels to different parts of the world to pick out his beans
and then comes back to New Canaan to roast them.
Another great thing about going to visit Doug at Zumbach's is
that if you're a car enthusiast, go down and take your sports car.
Doug races Porsches at Lime Rock, and he'll always have
people showing off their wares there. If you prefer tea,
no problem. You could go to Arogya, which is in
Westport. They sell a plethora of
loose leaf teas, and they also have services, so
if you wanted to have a cup of soothing tea while you were having a massage
that would be a great place to go. If you like high tea,
then you could go to Chocopology in South Norwalk.
Another place for high tea is in Darien, at Tea Party Antques and Tea Room.
