Yes, definitely.
Especially if I decide that I want to work in Denver,
I think it will be very easy to find work
because there's a lot of need
for people who can speak Spanish
and also have this cultural competency.
It's very important in social work.
If I want to go some place else,
I think it will still be important.
Yes.
In fact, I believe that . . .
There's a big demand for people that
not only speak Spanish
but also understand Latino culture.
My internship from last year has been contacting me
saying that they need therapists who speak Spanish.
And in my internship this year,
I know that
they need a social worker who speaks Spanish because
at this point, there isn't one.
I'm the only social worker, although I'm only a student,
I'm the only one that speaks Spanish.
There's a big demand, I think it will be
more or less easy to find a job.
I think so.
I think there are many opportunities for bilingual professionals.
Not only bilingual, it's not only important to speak Spanish,
in being a professional.
It's also very important to understand the context,
the history,
to really deepen the knowledge a therapist has
about a person.
And yes, I think it will really help me.
I believe so. I hope so.
Everyone, when I tell them I speak Spanish,
almost everyone tells me,
"Oh, it will be very very easy to find a job."
So, yeah.
But at the same time I recognize that
it's not just about being able to speak Spanish,
but also having
all the rest of what we've learned in the program.
So, yes. I feel very prepared
to enter the profession
and to offer competent and effective services.
