Have you ever seen Allen Iverson play basketball in his prime? He had the sickest ball handling
skills ever.
Wouldn't it be great if you could ask him, how to dribble a basketball better? Well it's
somewhat possible to do this.
See, you can learn something from someone without even asking them information just
by watching them. When I want to learn how to do something that someone does I watch
how they do it.
Have you ever heard the saying actions speak louder than words?
This saying can really help you improve your basketball skills. Just watch what the great
ball handlers do and take the stuff you like and use it to your advantage.
Allen Iverson has a very unique way of dribbling, it seems as if he has unlimited confidence
in his ball handling because he does highly difficult and effective moves with ease. So
what can you learn from watching basketball players like Allen Iverson?
You will learn that confidence is important. You can't let fear hold you back from doing
what you want to do but at the same time you don't want to do something you've never done
before in the wrong setting.
What I mean by that is you don't want to do a move in a basketball game that you have
no experience doing. If there is a specific move you want to do, you have to practice
it until you can do it naturally and smoothly. The reason for this is because when there
is defense on you, the difficulty of every move goes up, so if you try a move you're
not comfortable with, it may lead to a turnover.
What else can you learn from watching great ball handlers? They all have a go to move
that they're really good at. You may have a move you either really like doing, or you
are really good at. Once you figure out what your favorite move is you want to make sure
it is effective.
You can find out if it's effective by using it on defenders and if it helps you score
then it is effective. Now you want to perfect it so that you can use it whenever you need
to score. It is very important to have a go-to-move in your bag of tricks.
Whenever you want to increase your ball handling and dribble the basketball better, just watch
the best ball handlers you know and do what they do. If you see a move you like then use
it.
If you notice something that the top ball handlers are doing that you aren't doing,
then start doing it.
