Today on our 2012 Ford Fusion will be installing the draw type hitch part number 24865 this
is what are hitch once it is installed. And heres a couple of measurements that will assist
you in selecting accessories for your new hitch. From the center of the hitch pin all
hole to the outermost head of the bumper five and a half inches on the top of the receiver
tube to the ground is 12 inches this will assist a selecting accessories such as a bike
rack or a cargo carrier. First we need to lower the exhaust before we can install our
hitch to do this well take a little spray of lubricant and spray the rear tube host
exhaust fans. Now before I remove the rubber hangers we have to take a safety strap and
put under the exhaust so it doesnt fall too far. Now and if the exhaust lowered we go
ahead in installing our hardware into the frame weve got two attachment points this
are holes that are already pre build in the frame by the manufacturer our four attachment
points we need to take a pull wire that provided in our install kit and go through the attachment
point using the rear attachment point as an access hole then well slide on a block in
seven 16th carriage bolt. Go ahead and fit that up into the frame. You
can pull that into position and I go ahead and leave my bolt leader on as it will make
it easier to fit it our pull wire through the hitch and now push our hardware back up
into the frame for our rear fastener, were going to use the reverse pull method well
go ahead and put our block and bolt on the bolt leader before we put it on the frame.
First well fit the bolt into the frame and then the block and then pull it back in to
the same hole. That gets all of our hardware in the frame for the driver side now repeat
the same process on the passenger sides. Alright now were ready to go ahead and install the
hitch good idea to get an extra help of hand to help you hold the hitch and place while
you install your fasteners a conical tooth washer for the tooth of the washer facing
the hitch
in
a seven 16 knot.
