MICHAEL LEWIS: Michael Lewis here with Christian Martial Arts. On behalf of Expert Village,
we're here to talk today about executing an outboard wristlock. Okay, in the situation
with a knife, it is sort of a little bit more trickier situation. Timing is vital when you're
applying the wristlock technique. If you're to throw a thrust towards me I step out of
the way of the knife technique whether it's with my left or right leg. For this technique
I'm stepping out with my left where the way I'm turning my body so I'm not in the way
and grabbing his wrist all at the same time. So it's a few things going on all together.
What you have to do is once you grab, again, fingers in palm, thumb on the back, you rotate
up and apply pressure. From here, you'll be able to apply enough pressure that he would
possibly drop the knife or you may be able to strike the knife out of his hand. So again,
just to go over it one more time, he thrust, I step out of the way and grab. Now, of course,
as I was talking about before, you may do the loosening up technique. So from here,
you could throw, we call it reach hand strike using the blade of your hand to his neck or
you can just throw a regular punch to the face. And once you do that, you just step
back and be able to apply the technique to his wrist. That is one way of being able to
defend yourself using the outboard wristlock against the knife technique.
