What sets mobile technology leaders apart from the typical company in managing mobile
initiatives? The IBM Global IT Study on Mobile Infrastructure estimated that twenty percent
of enterprises are what we qualify as mobile leaders. Mobile technology leaders are engaging
in multiple initiatives: securing mobile data, managing mobile telecomm expenses, mobile
devices including BYOD, managing and deploying mobile applications, and deploying and managing
mobile application platforms. A number of enterprises have deployed mobile device management
solutions or MDM. But it's more than just MDM. So strategy,
policy, network, mobile application development, mobile application management, unified communications,
collaboration, social, all of these aspects play a role in
a comprehensive, mobile enterprise solution. Enterprises face a number of challenges with
managing mobile devices -- smart phones and tablets are more than twice as likely to be
lost or stolen than a PC. Also, the number of mobile platforms -- whether iOS, Android,
Blackberry, Windows -- it's very challenging to
find experts in all of the different software mobile platforms. IBM has both products and
services on premise and in the cloud that we can bring to
assist customers with becoming a mobile-first enterprise.
IBM managed services can help enterprises improve control with over-the-air provisioning
and updates, enterprise strength security, and governance policies. A simplified subscription-based
pricing model is built around devices, usage and service options for greater predictability,
flexibility, and cost effectiveness. Enterprises are experiencing a number of benefits
as a result of leveraging IBM for mobile activities. They include keeping up-to-date on mobile
capabilities and technologies, creating competitive advantages and differentiation using mobile
capabilities, services, and applications. And finally, lower costs.
IBM assisted a large European bank implement a BYOD program for smart phones and tablets.
We implemented a highly secure, mobile solution that met the bank's high
security requirements. We also implemented the mobile infrastructure including end user
support. This resulted in a sixty-eight million dollar increase in productivity,
five point five million dollar reduction in cost, and a one hundred and eight percent
return on investment over three years. The mobile space is moving incredibly fast and
it can be challenging for many enterprises to keep up-to-date on the latest and greatest
mobile technologies. Many enterprises don't have the staff and
the expertise to adequately manage the mobile infrastructure.
They'll want to expand their network. They'll want to look at social and cloud. IBM has
the ability to provide solutions across all of these different areas.
Working with a trusted partner like IBM can enable enterprises to be engaged with more
mobile initiatives and to deploy technology and solutions faster and at less cost.
