The main materials of the Secrets Gardens.
Secrets Gardens Calade, copper, lime mortar related by Nicole Moumen.
Calade
The technique to create calade is simple ; you just need cement, pebbles, labour force and
a bit of imagination.
These calade are the first step of the adventure because we created them with our three daughters
in 1983 which was the beginning of fieldwork.
The amusing part of the story is that some of the grandchildren have restored some calade
that their mothers created thirty years ago.
Copper
Copper is quite a new element used in our gardens.
After a trip to Tunisia we decided to integrate this material into our gardens.
Alain simply used plumbing pipes and copper plates to shape volutes, hearts, birds and
flowers : this is a way for him to reveal his exuberant imagination.
Lime Mortar
Lime mortar is a magic element which charms our visitors.
We can elaborate lots of spectacular items : fountains, ponds, and roofs.
We always use the same mixture made of cement, sand, lime, natural oxides.
This material can be molded, etched, painted and tinted.
In fact it's the universal panacea to build "your secret garden".
