Hi, my name is Austin Harmon, but out here I'm known as Forrest Evergreen. I'm here on
expertvillage.com to teach you about the game of Amtgard. Another type of spell is a spell
ball, which is something like this. It's got a soft core to it; whether its carpet padding
or polyester foam, or sometimes people use rubber bands wrapped up in foam; things like
that. These are designed to be thrown at your target, so I can charge the spell ball; throw
it at my target, and if it hits it has an effect on them. If it misses; it obviously
doesn't. The benefit of those is if I can get to that and pick it back up; I can recharge
it and throw it again an unlimited number of times. They have different effects. The
one I just threw is called a fire ball. I would say fireball five times, and then I'd
throw it at my target. If it hit them, and they weren't magically protected in some way;
they're dead; they're out of that life. This would be an entangle ball. I would hold that
and say; entangle, entangle, entangle, entangle, entangle. I would throw it at my opponent,
and if it hit them; they would not be able to move for one hundred and fifty count. They
also cannot be attacked for that one hundred and fifty count; they're basically taken out
of the game for that period of time. It's a way to eliminate some of your opponents
from combat so you can outnumber the other team, and then fight them. Fireballs take
them out. There are also lightning balls, petrified balls, acid balls; lots of different
spell balls. The general effects are straight up damage, or immobilize them for some period
of time; take them out of the game for some period of time.
