I chose Fisher because
they had a really great nursing program
also my mom is a professor here so
she talked a lot about Fisher to me
and it just seemed like a great fit so I could be close to home
and also get the level of education I wanted
I chose my major because, I feel like major kind of chose me
ever since I was probably two, I’ve known I wanted to be in the medical field
I was the one putting band aids on people
and always just had this idea of me, giving care
and nursing kind of just seemed like the perfect fit as far as being able to take care or someone and help them heal and get better
my friends kind of have a running joke about what I’m not involved in
I’ve pretty much dabbled in everything during undergrad
I’m pretty involved on campus with my RA position
I’ve been an RA in Ward, Keough, and Founders
that’s been super fun cause I’ve gotten to meet a lot of people
and then I’m involved as a cheerleader
I’ve cheered for a few years now
I am in sustained dialogue
I am involved in student concert committee which lets students go to different area concerts
I’m also involved in different campus activities like Teddi, Relay
I think my favorite memory, comes from my freshman year
cheering for the Courage Bowl game
one of our honorary cheerleaders, her name was Sarah
she was the sweetest girl ever, definitely, so excited to be there at practice with us
but we didn’t really get to follow up afterwards
and then two years later at Teddi I saw her at the dance
and that just like brought so much joy to my heart
she looked so much better and it was great to see her, see that she recognized me
and be able to thank her for teaching me so many lessons even as a 9-year-old and me being a freshman in college
she taught me to fight there are bigger issues in the world
than being stressed out for tests and all the silly little things that I would stress out about
she definitely made an impact and that would be the biggest thing that I would take away from college
I think college is a great time for you to of course to learn a lot in the classroom but I don’t think people really talk about how much they learn outside of the classroom
it’s not really the selling point of college
you know you go there to get your degree but there’s so much learning that goes on outside of the classroom
just your everyday interactions, especially living on campus
you definitely, you know you learn a lot about yourself
people you want to hang out with, people you don’t want to hang out with
how you handle conflict, you learn new hobbies, new interest
things you don’t like, how you’ve grown from high school, you see that change in yourself
definitely as far as academic growth the aspect is there cause I’ll get my academic degree
but as far as personal growth, I learned that outside of the classroom
