Hi, I'm Shayna.
I'm Ashley.
And we met freshman year, brushing our teeth in Claflin Hall.
Best friends.
Meeting a best friend while brushing your teeth one morning, the first day of class.
We both walked in like super delirious, not even knowing...we were basically zombies.
We were like, oh 9 a.m., solid.
Congrats, we both have to suffer.
But that's how we started.
I could tell Ashley was super friendly from her smile and she was just so happy, even
at 9 a.m.,
even as tired as we were.
We kept a conversation in the midst of opening our toothpaste and found a common ground.
You kind of can tell when you click with someone and you get along with someone.
I could tell Ashley was a really sweet girl and the more we saw each other at school events
or at parties,
we just hung out more.
Yeah we would grab lunch together, go to the dining hall together.
And we realized we have so many similarities, one of which that we're both from the same
hometown
and live 20 minutes away from each other.
First coincidence. First crazy coincidence for us.
And, funny enough, we're actually Persian.
So even more crazy is that our fathers grew up in the same town all the way back in Iran
and they kind of had the same knowledge of one another.
One thing after another, we were just like what? Are you serious? Like, is this real?
That doesn't happen every day.
It's really incredible to find a best friend while you're brushing your teeth.
It's pretty cool.
Right now we're still six doors away from each other.
The other day she literally showed up at my apartment at 12 a.m. on the dot with cupcakes
and everything perfectly made.
It was beautiful.
It was her birthday.
I was in my pajamas.
I didn't know she was going to come.
It's so convenient.
You know you have that person who knows you so well and for so long, always there for
you.
But she's literally so close distance-wise and you know she knows all your little habits
and knick knacks and especially, she knew my birthday.
Of course.
I can't wait to see what the future holds for us.
Even though you'll be graduating, we're a 20 minute drive from one another.
We're still really close and we can always hang out.
We have each other to just go back to having the whole college experience together.
The good times, the funny times.
Those life changing moments that you have in college--
we were there for each other and we were able to experience it together.
And that's one of the most beautiful things about this friendship is that, not only does
it happen in school,
but it continues on later in life.
I don't know what I would've done these past four years if I didn't meet Ashley.
The same goes for me for Shayna.
I tell her all the time;
Ash, I love you.
Love you too, Shay.
Amazing.
