Hello, and welcome to the St. Edward’s site hosting page.
Here, faculty and students can create Word Press blogs as part of a class
or as a personal blog, site, or portfolio.
In this tutorial, I’ll show you the basics of setting up a blog,
navigating Edublogs, and customizing your page.
S. Edward’s blogs are hosted by the administrative service Edublogs
which provides site management and organizational tools for educational
institutions. Word Press, which is a blog building platform,
powers the sites. So if you’ve used Word Press before this is
very similar.
To start a blog, all you have to do is log in with your
St. Edward’s user name and password.
A blog will automatically be
created for you when you log in.
You will first be taken to your profile page
where you can set some general preferences and share personal information
on your profile.
In the “My sites” segment of the header menu,
find your blog and select “visit site”
This page shows you what your published blog looks like.
Right now it doesn’t have any changes, posts, or
customizations. To start customizing your blog,
go to “Dashboard” under “My Sites” and “Your Blog.”
The “Dashboard” is the main management page from which you can customize
all of your settings. I’m going to show you how to change your site’s general
settings, your sites visual theme, and how to create and delete
posts. Under settings in the sidebar,
go to “General Settings.”
to change your site’s title, subtitle, and date options.
Then go to “Appearance”
and find a theme that you like.
You can preview themes before applying them.
Now go to posts on your dashboard. You can delete
the default post by selecting it and using the bulk action
“Move to Trash”
You can also create a post of your own, if you’re ready,
by clicking on “New Post.”
Now go back to your page to see the changes that you’ve made.
You can do a lot more customization to create the kind of blog
or site that you need.
