MORNING MEDITATIONS FOR YOUTH
June 14
DO YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY?
Remember this, dear friends:
you must all be ready to listen;
instead should be slow to speak. James 1: 19.
Albert Einstein, undoubtedly the greatest scientist of the twentieth century
is also known for its occurrences.
One occurred when there was a dinner in his honor.
Einstein had been invited to receive an award for his contribution to science.
After receiving his award,
the audience began to cry, "Let him talk! I speak! ".
Although the program did not include an address by the famous scientist,
President of the institution invited him to speak.
Against his will, Einstein took the podium.
The audience kept silence.
He began by saying:
"Ladies and gentlemen, I'm sorry but right now I have nothing important to say."
That said, sat down.
After a few moments, as if remembering something he should have said,
Einstein rose from his seat: "When you have something to tell you, let you know."
Indeed, some six months later,
contacted the university president to express:
"Now I have something important to say."
Tells the story which is then held another dinner in his honor,
in which Einstein finally gave his much anticipated speech.
In an age like ours, where many want to talk and just listen,
Einstein experience teaches us a valuable lesson:
When we have nothing to say, it is better to be silent.
But when we have something important to say, then talk.
Sage said it best:
"In this world everything has its time, there is a time for everything that happens:
[...] A time to be silent and a time to speak "(Ecclesiastes 3:1,7).
A lesson no less important than the previous one is derived from
is that when it's time to talk,
let's to the point and bluntly,
as well as Solomon put it,
"He who talks much, much errs" (Proverbs 10:19).
Ask God to help us cultivate the gift of speech
because, as expressed in the book Christ's Object Lessons on page 270,
No other talent may be more blessing than this.
And also ask him to give us wisdom to know when and how to use it.
Let your prayer for this day:
Enable me, Lord, to know when to speak and when to shut up.
GOD BLESS YOU
