G'day everyone my name is Daniel O'Grady, and welcome to another Wasabicars video.
I hope you're all doing well. Thank you all for the great response I got
in that last video. The question was, which car did you want to
see next? There were two RX7's I was suggesting, a Honda
Kei truck, and the forth, which might have been the first, was this 914 Porsche.
Here it is, guys. It's obviously very white and a little bit rusty.
Sad to see. Some trim is missing around the headlight.
And the other major issue with the car would have to be that rear, right-hand side wheel.
The angle is not right. Something is wrong because the other one is straight up and down.
The camber on this one is ridiculous. It is broke without a doubt.
Let me tell you a bit about the background of the car.
Hey, it's not a car I grew up with. It's as old as me, perhaps.
I never saw it around. But, anyway... Checking Wikipedia; thanks
Wikipedia. I should donate.
Yeah, it's a Porsche/Volkswagen collaboration. I believe that Volkswagen were selling the
4 cylinder version and Porsche were selling the 6 cylinder versions.
It seems there were issues with the development. Who's going to pay for what?
... you can't have it. But, anyway.
Turned out being quite a successful car I believe in the long run.
It sold perhaps even more than the Porsche 911, so maybe that was overpriced.
How the hell would I know. Yeah, that's about all I know.
Geez, that is about all I now. Actually, one other thing I heard was that
Volkswagen wanted it to replace their Karmann Ghia, Type 34.
That was a fine looking car. And, I've got to say that this one, the 914, the shape,
it's not exactly curvy. But anyway, it seemed to be quite a successful
car. What I want to talk about next is the question
of the day. And, what the question of the day is, is probably
more, tell me a story thing. It's your Porsche memory.
What's your Porsche memory? When I was young. I would've been grade 2.
So, seven years old. In the breakfast cereal I used to eat which
was weet-bix; there's a box for you. Well, this is like a commemorative box, but
weet-bix, wheaties, whatever the hell. There was a little card.
So, every time you get a box you get a small card with some European sports-car on it.
And, one of them was a 911, early/mid 70's. It was white with a Carrera stripe along the
bottom. That was a sweet looking thing.
It was something like this, I guess. A card like this.
These are muscle-cars but... A card like that in my breakfast cereal.
So, that was the first, major Porsche memory that I had.
I didn't even know what a Porsche was... Looked like a Volkswagen.
Haha. Yeah, that was my first Porsche memory.
Hey, let me know what your Porsche memory is, guys.
Okay? So, thank you all very much and take it easy.
See you.
