Hey, everybody. It's Kristin Shaffer with FABUniversity.com. That's =
FAB-University.com and FigureAndBikini.org. And I'm here to help you get =
your fab body and live a fab life. Today I'm about five weeks out from =
stepping on stage with some of the most amazing women on the planet. I'm =
going to be competing at the Emerald Cup, which is the largest fit body =
competition in the Northwest. And if you haven't been following my =
journey, make sure you check out the previous weeks' episodes because =
there are some amazing tips on there on how to get into incredible =
shape. And you don't have to be preparing for a competition to do so. =
All of these tips apply to all of us, whether you're going to strap on =
five-inch heels or not. This past week not a whole changed with my diet =
and exercise. Right now the keys for me are consistency and persistence =
no matter what happens in my life. What that means is I need to make =
sure that I put myself first, and the reason I have to put myself first =
is because if my bucket isn't full, if I'm not filling myself up, how in =
the world am I able to take care of anybody else? And that holds true =
for you. If your bucket isn't full, if you're not taking care of =
yourself, if you're not putting yourself first, putting yourself first, =
you're not going to have a full bucket to offer anyone anything else.=20
First question comes in from Chelsi McFarland. Hi, Chelsi. She says, =
"Hi, Kristin. I love your videos. Do you have any advice to people who =
are new to the whole fitness world? I'm having a hard time learning all =
the fitness lingo and feel like there is a lot of commonly known =
information that I'm missing. I'm super interested in weight training =
and competing but I don't even know where to start." Chelsi, that's an =
awesome question. I am so happy that you asked that. You know, there is =
a ton of information out there and, actually, sometimes I think there's =
too much information. It's kind of like information overload, so that's =
actually why I did create FigureAndBikini.org originally. And that was =
for figure and bikini competitors, but it's packed full of great =
information, not just for competitors, but for anybody just trying to =
get into kick-butt shape. And now I also have FAB-University.com so go =
ahead and check that out too. Sign up for the weekly emails and you're =
going to get some great tips and tricks on how to get into amazing =
shape. So thank you very much for asking that question and, of course, =
check out all the YouTube videos. There are tons of them that I have on =
here, like 44 that I've done over the last couple of years. Check them =
all out. They're packed full of very, very good information that'll help =
you to get started. But the one tip that I want to share today for you, =
Chelsi, and for anybody else that really wants to get started on their =
journey, the best thing that you can do is prepare your meals for the =
week. And I have a couple of key videos on that. There's "Meals For Fat =
Loss" and "Preparing for Your Meals in Under Two Hours." Check those two =
videos out because they are packed full of information on how to prepare =
your meals for the week so that you never go hungry, you never look for =
junk food, and you're on your way to an amazing, sexy body. The next =
question comes in from Twinma0454. "Sorry if you've addressed this a =
zillion times. How much do genetics play in achieving a "competition =
level" figure? Is it actually possibly for any old gal to eat and =
exercise to get somewhere resembling that? Thanks!" Well, Twinma, =
genetics plays absolutely nothing, and I mean nothing, when it comes to =
getting into amazing competition shape. Okay, maybe a little bit, but =
really only a tiny, little bit. 80 percent, sometimes I say 70 percent, =
maybe 80 percent, but a ton of it has to do with your diet. Diet is =
everything, and then the other 15 percent or so, that's exercise, and =
then maybe 5 percent genetics. But that is it. So don't make that an =
excuse. Don't ever let yourself say that I can't do this because of my =
genetics. That's just an excuse. That's an excuse not to take action. =
But, Twinma, you can do this no matter what your genetics are so check =
those videos that I just talked about. Start prepping your meals and get =
going on your journey. Believe me, it's really worth. And the next =
question comes in from Maryann Gonzales, and Maryann writes, "It's hard =
to follow a diet when I have two picky people who won't eat what I want =
to eat. What do you think I should do?" Maryann, that is an absolutely =
fantastic question. I'm really glad you ask. And what I can tell you is =
that at my household I set the standard when it comes to clean-eating =
and my kids model my behavior. They eat everything that I eat and never, =
ever have any junk food. Maryann, what I can tell you, in all =
seriousness, is that, you know what? You really can't influence the =
people in your household. They're going to eat what they want to eat. =
You have to take care of yourself first so let them eat whatever they =
want to eat and you make sure that you take care of yourself to get =
yourself into crazy, sexy, awesome shape. And the last question comes in =
from Dianne, and Dianne asked, "Kristin, are you starving yourself?" Me? =
No, I'm not. Dianne, it amazes me. I have been working at the same =
corporate job now for almost over, well, over 14 years, and even my =
coworkers ask me that question when they see me eating all day long. But =
it's when I turn down that piece of chocolate cake, or I turn down that =
donut, they say, "What? Are you starving?" And the truth is that it =
couldn't be further from the truth, and just to show you I went ahead =
and put a little video clip together of what my day looks like when it =
comes to eating.
So thank you for all your questions. I love hearing from you guys. I =
love the encouragement. Thank you, thank you, thank you. =46rom the =
bottom of my heart, thank you. I love it. So make sure you tune in and =
ask those questions on all the social media, on Facebook, Pinterest, =
YouTube, LinkedIn, and I'm all over the place. So go ahead and send me =
your questions. I want to hear from you. So that wraps up this week's =
episode and I hope you enjoyed it as much as I have, and if you have go =
ahead and hit that "Like" button below because that tells other people =
that this episode is valuable. And if you'd like to see more episodes, =
make sure you hit that "Subscribe" button because you will be notified =
of each video as it's released. I'm Kristin Shaffer with =
FAB-University.com and FigureAndBikini.org and I hope to see you next =
