Insecticide seed treatment is an emerging tool for insect control in many seed varieties.
The seed is generally treated by the seed company or the seed distributor before the
grower receives it. Gus Lorenz, an extension entomologist, and
others in the mid-South region, have replicated over one hundred seed treatment trials since
two-thousand eight. In the trials, the use of insecticide treated seed resulted in a
net profit about eighty percent of the time. The overall results are better plant health,
vigor, and an increased yield. Seed treatments seem most valuable for early planted crops
that are exposed to stressful field conditions. Arkansas producers are also seeing a positive
effect on the control of grape colapsis with the treated seed. You're Arkansas Soybean
