>>The newly launched Toyota Camry looks like an evolution of the older car. It has straight
lines but is embellished with plenty of chrome to give it a luxury appeal. When viewed in
profile the car has a rising belt-line and a nicely proportioned boot.
The Skoda Superbhas classy, slightly conservative European styling. The car looks more limousine
like in its design. On the interiors the Superb and the Camry have avery understated, conservative
design for the dashboard, but both look very rich.
The Camry is powered by a 2.5 litre petrol engine that puts out 179bhp of power and 233
Newton meters of torque, with a six-speed automatic transmission. The Skoda Superb comes
with a turbo-charged 1.8 litre petrol engine that puts out 160 bhp of power and 250 newton
meters of torque, with a seven speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, as well as six-speed
manual. One thing the Skoda Superb has plenty of is
interior space and comfort. Legroom in the rear seat is much more than in the Toyota
Camry. The Superb also has slightly more boot space than the Camry, at 565 litres compared
to 530 litres, and offers flexibility of loading space with the twin-door boot opening system.
If you look at features, the Superb has more comfort features and drive-assist features,
such as a better multi-function display, adaptive headlamps etc, while the Camry too is quite
loaded, but not as much as the Superb. The Skoda Superb is priced much cheaper than
the Toyota Camry, and is therefore more value for money. The Toyota Camry sells mainly on
brand appeal. If you want a powerful car that is fun to
drive and haslimousine-like comfort features, pick the Superb as it is also cheaper. But
if you want a car that has that global brand identity and reputation for reliability, the
Camry is worth a look.
