Are you ready to add some texture to your shimmies? My name's Karen and this is Johann
a, and we're with Hip Expressions Belly Dance Studio, in Saint Petersburg, Florida. Let's
add a chest lift to our shimmy. Make sure you practice the two moves really well before
you put them together, so they are nice and clean when you do it. Put your feet slightly
apart, and let's review the chest lift for a moment. Soften your knees, press your heels
into the floor, pull that belly in, and lift your chest up. Get your hands out to the side,
and we're going to lift up and release, lift up and release. If you'll notice, we're going,
we're lifting this separately from our lower half, so that when we start putting our shimmies
in there we have a nice clean move, so let's do that. Let's add our shimmy; get it going
nice and strong, nice and even. And we're going to go lift, release; lift, release;
lift, release. Keep those shimmies going. Keep those heels down. Don't let them come
up. Keep your belly button pulled into your spine, and you can make them go a little faster.
Change your tempo depending on your music. Practice these in the mirror, and you'll have
a nice chest lift on top of your layered shimmy.
