When you are dealing with a project, especially large projects, you run into
the issue of asset management. Basically dealing with all of these various
assets and files that you have in your project. So in my Project panel again, I have the Metadata
project open. I'm going to go ahead and hit the Tilde key. It's on the upper
left-hand corner of your keyboard. I can expand that out just to show
you all these various files that I have imported so far.
So, I can easily from, within the Search field, I can filter out what I what to
see such as surfing. I can type that in and it gives me all the surfing clips.
Basically it's doing it based on all of these names, but what I can also do is type
in something else like, say for instance, I need a wipeout clip. I can type
that in and it's not in the name because the word wipeout exists within the metadata.
So what I can do is I'm just going to tab through, I'll just hit my Tab key,
tab forward and back. As you can see down here in the description, it says Big
wipeout. So, that's what I searched on, that's what I got. But not only that I
can add to this as well. So, I can go ahead and say Matt, add the name
of the surfer there and just showing you that you can actually add to your
metadata. And we have a couple other fields down here, but I can even do
is modify the columns that are available within my Project panel by going
to the flyout menu, going down to Metadata Display and from here you can see
I have a couple of different schemas actually showing currently, but I can even
twirl this down and actually even check the Basic schema and basically it's
going to add all of this information including say the Name and the Rating.
As it actually going to be displayed in my Project panel. But not only that,
if I want to I can actually add a new schema, a new setup, maybe specific for my
work environment. But in general, I'm going to select OK and then again if I
just tab through we can see that sure enough there's all this additional information
that's available that I can then go ahead and modify as well. Since I really
like this clip, I'm going to go ahead and change the rating to five. So it's a pretty
good clip. So that works out great. I have edited that
metadata and what's great about this is, this information is available across
the Production Premium applications. So, what I can do and I'm going
to hit the Tilde again to shrink that back down. I'm going to File and I'm
going to Browse In Bridge and then I'm just going to navigate to my exercise
files and what I want to do from here is actually do a search on all of my files
that have a rating of five. So, what I can do is go to Edit > Find and
from here instead of searching on the Filename I'm going to search on the Rating
and pull up all of the assets that have a rating of five. So again, allow
me to find these files. Sure enough there is three in there and as I can see this
is the one that I actually modified in Premiere Pro CS4 and I can further
modify this metadata in the Metadata panel as well.
But as you can see dealing with assets is very easy, not only dealing with
assets within Premiere Pro but this information that I can add in Premiere Pro
is actually available across Production Premium apps, really making my workflow
really efficient.
