Before we move on
there are two frequently identifiable behaviours
that are associated with people struggling with wood
One, is an almost compulsive need
to be healthy and even more so, athletic
This, as a response to unbalanced wood
is a way for these people
to help regulate or control the timing of their body
As we said earlier
timing and accuracy is associated with the wood element
Much like the way plants in nature
grow almost in clockwork each year
so becomes the urge for those with an excess of wood
Thus, by turning to sports, and a rigidly healthy diet
they feel that they are able to assure the timing or punctuality
and accuracy of their body
The other is addiction
While with addiction
the first thing that comes to mind is drugs and alcohol
we should note the following:
On one hand, methods of altering our state of mind
are associated with the metal element
As we will find later when we discuss the metal element
Metal behaviourally is associated with spirituality
The party aspect of drugs and alcohol is associated with fire
When we put the two of these together
we find that metal is used to regulate the growth of plants as we discussed earlier
and fire is used to burn wood
Addiction on the other hand
can be associated with any type of addiction
whether it be to chocolate or sports, or a healthy diet, or even TV show
This is because addiction is about routine
about accuracy and timing, regulation and limitations or boundaries
