and i do you want to point out one important thing now
for clarification
uh... a baptism
being baptized
doesn't make a person's saved it doesn't make a person anymore saved
it's actually accepting christ that does that he does the work
this is the symbolic thing
um... and the way we as a church explain it
it's more like a wedding ring
when you get married
the bride and the groom both receive a ring
and they wear those rings
as a symbol of their commitment to one another
if you take that ring off
it doesn't mean you're not married but you wear the ring
as a symbol
this is a symbolic thing um but it's much bigger than a wedding ring
uh this glorifies god
and for a person who's being baptized this is an intensely and wonderful
personal thing between them
and the Lord and i can't imagine what it must have looked like
on the day
jesus christ was baptized but you know that when he was baptized by john the baptist
in the water
um that some pretty incredible things happened in the heavens
and um... that was the first
really important baptism not that other baptisms weren't important before that
but that's the baptism that we follow
and uh...
they are doing this
out of obedience to their lord and savior jesus christ
and to demonstrate their love for jesus
so we're going to go ahead and just cut straight to it and we're going to start with mr. mark kaiser
mark are you ready to be baptized sir ok
