My name is Kevin Saunders, and I own Kevin G Saunders Photography.
We’re going to look at another one of our fine art orchids, behind the scenes, so you can see a little bit about what goes into the production of one of these very large prints.
The orchid we have today is supported by four wires, and it grows on a wooden board. It also is held to that board with some wires and a bolt.
The challenge in this print was to get rid of the background which was lighter, and leave the actual plant and the board as if it were floating in space.
So, you can see what it looks like, before and after.
As you can see down here, we also have another bit of wire that needed to be removed.
Our goal is to have no evidence of anything other than the actual plant.
You can see here, there is a lot of wire, with bits of orchid roots growing all around it, and a great big washer.
That presented the greatest challenge in this project, because as you can see, the roots are recreated as they actually look underneath that wire.
It takes a considerable amount of artistry to do this, and a considerable amount of time as well.
As we scroll out, we can see nothing but a beautiful orchid.
This is about a 2 meter wide print, to give you some perspective.
I hope that you appreciate the beauty of these plants like we do, and I appreciate you taking the time to watch this video.
