>> I found Woodland Court through the University web pages.
And then I looked at the address of where that was and actually it looked quite nice
Because it’s close to Clifton Downs, so you could go jogging there or you could go for a walk there.
And it’s also not close to a main road. It’s quite calm.
It has got a courtyard in the middle, which is quite nice so you can sit in the evenings still.
>> Woodland Court is managed by staff on a 24 hours basis to provide a secure and efficient environment for 200 people here.
We have 200 study rooms, and 5 flats which have adapted rooms for wheel chair users which are accessible by lifts.
>> As a wheel chair user I would recommend The University of Bristol and specifically Woodland Court,
in terms of accommodation and having of ease of mind in terms of access. Because I haven’t had any real problems
Obviously my mum was quite worried in terms of leaving me for the first time and the additional needs I had.
So it was quite a relief to be able to have people who knew what they were doing.
And we talked through the adaptations that might be necessary.
In terms of like lowering the work surface. And they said that was no problem.
And the car parking. To make sure I had a space that was designated just for me.
And also the automatic doors, because the doors are quite heavy especially to open and close.
And that was all sorted.
>> So the facilities at Woodland Court are quite modern. We have got quite nice facilities in the kitchen.
We’ve got a freezer and a fridge and enough space to actually cook for yourself and even freeze portions.
And then our bedrooms are en-suite. So that means we’ve got out own bathroom with a shower,
which is quite handy if you need absolutely to be at University on time.
So you don’t have to fight for bathroom places.
And then we’ve got a desk that we can work on and we’ve got even a telephone which you could communicate between the rooms.
Within 10 minutes walk you are basically everywhere of these different university buildings.
So for me it’s about 10 minutes walk, which is quite handy because I work with fish so in the lab there are fish which need to be fed.
>> The staff are here to provide support and guidance for the residents.
And then in the summer we have numerous barbeques
and social events and try to make the best use of our Common Room for our residents.
>> The staff of Woodland Court are very kind and helpful.
And also it’s quite amazing that they know you by name.
And they know where you are actually living. You don’t have to say, ‘Hello, I’m so and so from flat so and so.
