Hello from Denver! I'm attempting another
"Week in my life as a consultant" vlog. I
know a lot of you did like the last one,
but I also got feedback that it wasn't
super informative and unfortunately, I
can't show too much of the actual work
that I do, but I thought that as I take
you along this week I can share
different tips related to traveling for
work. And of course these don't just have
to apply to work travel, they can apply
to any kind of travel. The first tip
I want to share (because I'm in my hotel
room) is to download the app for whatever
hotel chain that you're staying at and
make use of the online check-in and
digital key function. I checked into my
hotel the day before I arrived and I
requested a digital key, so as soon as I
walked in, I skipped the desk and just
came get up to my room.
Tip number two is to use packing cubes.
I have three packing cubes here: one
for socks and underwear, one for -- I think
this is pajamas and workout gear...that I
will probably not actually use, and this
is the clothes that I'm going to wear at
the meeting tomorrow. It's about 6 a.m. I'm
meeting my co-workers in the lobby at
6:30. I probably got
four hours of sleep. Just gonna prepare
for 5-10 more minutes and then head
downstairs, get a bite to eat, maybe have
some coffee? I don't usually have coffee
but you know that I didn't have too much
sleep tonight...or last night. I will catch
up with you probably when I get back
home today. It's 5:30 p.m. I just got
back from the airport, I haven't
even changed, and I'm going to unpack
this bag which is my carry-on -- Lo and
Sons
O.G> bag which you would have seen in
my travel accessories video. Lo and
Sons actually saw that video and they
reached out. I was very honoured and
starstruck they asked if I would share
how I pack this bag with you guys
they're not paying me to say anything
about the bags. They do know that I love
them and I own two Lo and Sons bags
already. They are going to be sending me
a couple more, one of them being the
Catalina tote which is a weekender and
then the Cambridge which is sold as a
men's bag kind of like this like this
travel bag, and I'm actually going to
give that one to my brother because he's
a consultant as well and travels for
work. Since I have another trip this week,
I thought I would try to be organized
and clean this bag before that trip but
I think most of this stuff will stay in
here. First of all these were not in my
bag because I was wearing them but I did
pack them in this bag when I left for
Denver on Monday these are the Rafi's
flats and there's actually a pocket
right here on the side where you can
throw some shoes in there and it does of
course end up taking up space inside the
bag once the shoes are in this in this
pocket you don't have to worry about
them getting anything else dirty go my
laptop which I will take out and put in
a different bag so usually when I go to
the office I take just a plain tote like
this because I just don't need to take
as many things so I will put this in
that bag for tomorrow I have my wallet
and I have another work travel tip one
is to keep your receipts when you
purchase things for work in a separate
area so I have this separate flap
separate zippered compartment in my
wallet and that's where I keep all of my
work receipts I have my computer charger
which I will keep in this bag because I
have one at work and then I have one
here at home or for travel so I does not
keep this in my bag by the way this is
all in the main compartment here there's
also a couple other smaller compartments
into the back so still in the main
compartment I have a notebook don't use
it too much because I end up taking a
lot of notes on my computer but it's
handy to have my glasses case which is
very important because it has my glasses
in it this is my dental tooth care pouch
because I had braces pretty recently I
just always have a horrible you know
mini toothbrush and toothpaste and floss
with me now I just always feel the need
to clean my teeth they have this little
toiletry thing it's just a clear pouch
and I have some hand sanitizer lotion
tissues chapstick eyedrops and a little
hair clip there there are a couple small
pockets in here and in one of them I
have my mouse which is very important
because you can really hurt your wrists
by just using the trackpad all the time
and my headphones I always keep my
headphones in the original case and then
I have two stupid little adopter for my
phone yeah I'm probably going to invest
in some air pods soon or eventually I
guess when the when the new ones come
out but when you're traveling for work
still always have a pair of these
because in case you want to you know
take advantage of the in-flight
entertainment
then you need these kinds of headphones
and finally still in the stove
compartment there
a zippered compartment and in there I
have my camera charger for the camera
that I'm recording on right now moving
on to the front pocket I don't have too
much stuff in here I actually left some
pens at the place where I had my meeting
so oops but I have my charger which I
always just keep in this bag because
this is strictly my travel charger
because I don't want to forget to bring
my charger or anything like that so I
just have one designated for travel so
there's another tip for you I have a
little stain removing pen that you know
is branded another hand sanitizer
because I guess you could never happen
to many and finally all right on this
key leash I have my keys actually
there's also another zipper compartment
in the front pocket and in there I have
three flash drives because you could
also never have too many of these either
aside from all the different
compartments that make it very easy to
organize my bag I love that it has this
back pocket or not pocket but you can
slide this onto your luggage handle and
it will save your shoulders and your
back a lot when you're traveling and if
you want to close this bottom zipper and
use this as a pocket as well but I never
really do that I just always keep this
open and use it strictly as the luggage
handle sleeve
we just got to the airport because I'm
flying to Nashville today I went into
the office this morning because I had to
pick up some materials for tomorrow's
meeting tomorrow we are having what's
called a prototype review with this
client so we're essentially walking
through a rough draft of the solution
that we're making for them my flights at
5:30 so I have like a little less than
an hour and a half before I started
traveling for work I used to come really
really early to the airport which I
still think is a good idea you never
know what's gonna happen at the airport
but once I started traveling a lot for
work I got TSA PreCheck which allows you
to go through a security line with less
restriction so it costs $85 to have TSA
PreCheck for five years and if you
travel for work you probably already
have a pre-check but what you might not
know maybe is that Global Entry which
allows you to come into the u.s. faster
after you return from an international
trip costs $100 but also includes TSA
PreCheck so basically 15 dollars more
and you still get TSA PreCheck for five
years but also get Global Entry he
didn't already know that then I would
recommend getting Global Entry if you
are looking into getting TSA PreCheck
because you got a little something more
and it's much more convenient when
you're coming back from a foreign
country anyway i'm going to go into
security now it looks like I just got a
missed call and I will catch up with you
when I'm in Nashville
made it to my hotel it's about 7:00 p.m.
and I found out that one of my friends
is in Nashville she also just flew here
today so we're gonna meet up for a drink
or something after dinner at around 8:30
but in the meantime I was gonna go walk
somewhere nearby the hotel for dinner
but it might rain soon and I don't have
an umbrella or any jacket besides this
thin cardigan so I think I'm just going
to order some room service and I've
actually never ordered room service
before so I'm pretty excited I could
have the tacos please and just Pepsi
okay thank you
where's my food I called room service
and asked for hot sauce and they
actually brought me Cholula sriracha and
Tabasco but I chose Chula
I finished mine already
and finally home and it's finally the
weekend so that brings this week's work
vlog to an end I hope you enjoyed and
hope that the tips throughout were
helpful to you thank you so much for
watching and I will see you next time
bye
you
