Hello, my name is Cho Yejin and I am the vocal of the group. Nice to meet you
Hello, my name is Kim Sunyoung and I am the leader and guitarist of Lucite Tokki. Nice to meet you.
We met each other while studying music at the same college
and we became a duo because we liked each other's songs and voices. We then started to work together as a duo by making demos.
In general, we are a pop band and our goal is to compose music with different emotions in every song.
When we were in our early 20s, we conveyed our emotions that we felt at that time into our music
and right now, we are trying our best to express the emotions we feel now in our music.
We're not exactly sure what this question means, but like I have said before, we started by making demos of our music together.
Afterwards, we sent copies of the demos to several companies that we thought matches our colors the best.
We got a call back from one company and we were able to perform on stages for 6 months until we debuted with our first album.
We recently released a new song called "너와 함께 난 겨울" and because we like the winter season
we wanted to compose a song that you can listen to during that time of year.
Therefore, we composed two winter love songs and released an album.
"Tibi" is a Latin word that I have come across in my favorite book.
They say that it was used as the equivalent of the English word, "you," "to you," or "God."
After knowing what it meant, we thought that the word "Tibi" would fit perfectly with one of our songs.
There are times when we separately compose a song and compose one together.
Most of the time, one of us writes the lyrics and asks for a melody or the other way around.
The song, however, starts sounding like a song made by both of us once we start arranging it altogether.
So in the end, the arrangement of the song at the end is what makes them sound like our music because it has the qualities of both of us.
In my case, I like everything about composing music, but I like composing the melody and adding the lyrics to it the most.
In some ways, it is very easy to do, but it gets harder as you progress so I try my best every time I compose a new song.
Unlike my friend, I like to do the arrangements, the last step. Making new adjustments
or adding new components to the songs are what I like the most about composing music.
There's a certain charm in fixing the song to its perfection.
There are actually quite a few songs that we have composed and released since our debut and it is really hard to pick just one favorite
because we made all the songs so of course, we like them all. But personally, I like the songs "Go" from our third album and "Grow to Glow."
The audiences particularly like those songs when we perform and I feel more excited when singing it as well.
It is also very hard for me to choose just one song, but I like the song called "I'm here" from our third album.
It is actually a song that matches our tastes the least and was a new challenge for us.
At the time we composed the song, it was a very different feeling compared to the rest of the times we have composed.
I honestly think that being a musician is not a very easy job in general.
There are many hardships in being a musician, but being an indie musician in Korea is even harder.
There is a limited demand for indie music here in Korea because South Korea is a small country, but mostly because of the demand for K-Pop.
The demand for more K-Pop music compared to Korean indie music is much bigger and is something that is much difficult to overcome.
Indie music is a Do-It-Yourself approach to recording and publishing,
but I think it would be much easier for the indie bands to work if the audience didn't think of it as a genre.
If the people just accepted the music as it is without having to classify, it would be easier.
There are many places that we'd like to perform nationally and internationally.
Actually, our dream is to travel around the world so if it is possible, we'd like to perform while traveling around the globe.
But of course, we'd also like to perform in huge stadiums as well.
Ah, our EP album is a new album that is already released, not upcoming.
It consists of two winter love songs called "Tibi" and "Going to You" and by putting them together, we came up with the title "Getting Through the Winter with You." (너와 함께 난 겨울)
Winter is usually a hard time to get through, but the two songs are composed in the meaning of "the winter was more enjoyable and warm with you."
Yes and they are love songs, but we composed the songs in a way that can be referred or given to someone other than your lover.
We hope that the audience would share the songs with their close friends and family, not just their boyfriends or girlfriends, and spend the rest of the winter warmly.
There are many K-Pop and Indie bands, but we think that there are colors that only we can express.
If you're ever trying to search for new kinds of music, try listening to ours because we're not like most bands and we try our best to compose honest music.
The songs don't hold any special stories, but they are songs that we have composed in our perspective.
We think that you'll be able to feel sympathy with the songs that we have composed and learn to like our music. We hope that you'll listen to our songs.
We would first like to thank all our fans who have listened to our songs since the beginning.
We are trying new things while composing our songs and will continue to advance in new ways.
We are still learning and striving towards perfection so there may be some difficulties adjusting to our songs
but we are thankful to all our fans who have supported us and listened to our songs up to now.
And for future fans, we've made honest and fresh music until now, and we will continue to do so. If you are looking for music that comes from the heart, I can assure you that you will like our music. So come visit our homepage and Youtube channel to check them out. Thank you!
