Hello everybody, this is Scott Bradley coming to you from www.scottbradley.name and in this
video, this is going to be the second of four individual videos going through the today and year
notebook. In the last video that I did, I did the first five notes in the today and year notebook
and in this video I'm going to cover the next four notes in this actual notebook that I use to
basically leverage my time, leverage my skill set and just be massively effective with what I'm
doing and how I'm managing everything so that nothing falls through the cracks. I know where
everything goes and then I can go to bed at night with peace of mind know that everything's
taken care of and managed with my Evernote.
So if you remember in the previous video and if you haven't gone and that and watched that, I
highly recommend that you do that. All that you have to do, on the bottom left hand side under
this video, just click the word, "Evernote Scott", go back to the channel and make sure that you
click the one of four, part one of four and this is part two of four so then you would come back
to this video.
Anyway, in the previous video, I went over the today and year notebook and I went over the
daily execution note, the waiting on note, the future opportunities note, the daily, weekly,
monthly, quarterly, yearly note and the holding tank and what each one of those exactly meant
and how you use them in your life as you go about your everyday. I'm not going to cover those
in detail, that's in the previous video. But in today's video, what I'm going to cover are the
next four in this book of 17 notes and that is yearly holidays and dates, current contractual
obligations, budget and addresses to change.
So, let's jump into it. Again, the today and year notebook is basically the dashboard for your
life. What you do, how you do it, what you focus on, how you operate in your everyday life and
I feel like the very first thing in this video that I want to go over is the yearly holidays and
dates. Now for me I use this note specifically in a way that helps me figure out what I'm going
to do and how I'm going to do throughout the entire year. So typically the type of work that I
do is a lot of marketing based work, planning work, strategy work. And if you're in those
fields, you'll know that being prepared and ahead of game and knowing what's to come and
always being reminded of what's to come is actually going to be valuable for you to create
things ahead of time, be on time, not play last minute Charlie.
So one of the things that I've created in this today and year notebook as this dashboard for
myself is this little diagram here for yearly holidays and dates. Basically, if you're curious
about how to make one of these, all that you have to do is click into the note and you're going
to see up here a little grid like icon. Simply click it and put how many rows, how many
columns and the width. Now one thing you need to know that I always do is I always put 100%
or 95% of the page or you can do it in pixels depending on what is your preference on the size
that you want it. You can delete it, you could redo it, again, play around with this.
So in this thing that I actually created, I had, one, two, three, four rows, four columns, sorry.
And one, two, three, four. One, two, three, four rows. So, again, all that I did was click the
grid, rows, four, columns, four and I believe I did 95% of the page. And then you put 'add' and
then I'll just show that for you here. Four, four and 95, add. And what you're going to do is
you're going to get this little grid like icon and the best thing is you can just start filling in the
text any way you want and it automatically resizes itself. So it's very, very cool how this
works. Now if you wanted to delete a table, all that you have to do is click here, delete, delete
and you're back to normal. So just wanted to show you that little quick trick that I love.
So, again, the way I set this up is all based on quarters. So, again, depending on what business
you're in or what it is that you do in your life, this really allows you to take a quick snapshot
saying, "Okay, January, February, March, what are the big holidays? What are the big national
events? What are the, what's going on in the world?" So as we all know, during January,
February and March, most people are focused weight loss. So if you're in the weight loss
niche, you'll probably jump into this and go, "Okay, what specifically do I need to remember
about January? What specifically do I need to remember about February?" And from a
marketing standpoint, as an entrepreneur or a business owner or someone that works in a role
where knowing these things ahead of time and constantly reminding yourself, that's where this
is going to really come into play.
So when you set up this note for yourself, think about all those little detail things. Like for me,
in January, it's like okay, taxes, new things with taxes, the New Year. What are people
thinking about? What are at the forefront of the global consciousness in the world or in the city
or in the state that you're in or in the country? Again, all of these are going to be things that
drive your activity in your daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly, in your daily execution.
So it really is a nice dashboard to be able to glance at every so often to keep up to date with
certain things. So that's what the yearly holidays and dates note is.
Moving onto the next one. Again, if you're an entrepreneur or if you're a consultant or if you
are in a space where creating contracts and continual relationships is important. I recommend
creating the current contractual obligations note. And basically what that is is it allows you to
take a look at the snapshot of who am I working with? What are the agreements that we have?
And what do I need to make sure that I do or don't do? For me as an independent consultant or
a growth hacker, I'm working with multiple different people, multiple different agreements,
multiple different NDA's. Don't say this. Say that. What am I allowed to do? What am I
allowed to say? What are my commitments that I've made to them that I want to constantly be
reminded of and not have to always go back to the contracts that we make? I just find that this
is way, again, this is the dashboard for my life so it allows me to quickly glance at it.
Remember, I can even probably make this a weekly, in my weekly note here, maybe on a Friday
or a Thursday just a quick glance and say,
"Oh, am I staying inside my current contractual obligations?"
So again, put your client business relationship number one, item, item, item. Which would be
they can't this before X date or committed to doing XYZ every month, whatever, it's being
dependent on what you do and how you do it.
Next thing is the budget. Again, this is a dashboard for your life so one of the big moving parts
of your life is how much money are you bringing in? What are your expenses? What are you
fixed? And what's really the monthly cash flow? Are you positive or are you negative?
Hopefully you're positive and things are going great for you and if you're negative, try and
figure out what you can do to change that result based on your actions. So at the end of the day
this is just to get another snapshot for you to look at. Now if you want to put an Excel doc in
here that you can edit every so often, that's possible. Again, this is just to get you thinking
about what things would I want to have at my fingertips on my Evernote that I can access on my
phone, that I can access on computer, that I can just kind of keep a measure of what's going on
in my life and how is it all working? So, again, I highly recommend that you put in some sort
of budget into the today and year notebook just for the sake of if you're thinking about making
a purchase or you're thinking about something, you can always glance at this and know exactly
where you are. And even edit it as you continually go throughout your life,
so it's really helpful.
Now, finally, the final note in this that I'm going to cover today in this video, I know it's a very
short video but, again, this is short, sweet, to the point for you so you can actually go out and
implement this is the addresses to change. So typically the reason I created this note in my
today and year notebook is because early on about three or four years ago I would have to move
a lot and moving from here to here every six months or so or every nine months. And what
really frustrated me was the fear that
I was not going to have everything switched over to the new address.
So what I put here is a list of every single vendor that I would need to change. So like my cell
phone company, any internet based services that need my address or send me something, credit
cards, health insurance. Whatever those are, when you move you know in the back of your
mind, I don't have to worry about the stress of changing anything because I'm always going to
keep this up to date as I add new vendors to my life or as I change old ones to new ones and you
can keep this completely up to date.
So that was pretty much the next four notes. Again, this is the second video in four. Before
you go I have two quick things that I want to show you that I actually have added to all of this.
If you've been watching these videos, the first one is going to be familiar to you but there's a
second thing that I made in a change that's going to add some value to your life beyond these
videos that I'm creating in this account.
So the first thing is that if you haven't already done so, I've created a way to send you email
updates. So all that you have to do is go to scottbradley.name/evernotetips. Put your first
name, your best email, press 'go', and upon pressing go you're going to get an email from me
that's going to say, "Do you want these emails?" And so all you have to do is click that button
in that email and you'll be added to the list and basically what that is is it's going to be every
single time I publish a new video on the Evernote Scott YouTube channel, I will be notifying
you via email. And the reason I did this is because I did not want to only rely on YouTube's
ability to send you the notifications because sometimes they make time, sometimes they may
lag. I want to make sure you get the content that you want as soon as it's published.
Now, secondly, the last thing that I want to bring your attention to is I actually edited this
profile a little bit. So, if you click down on the bottom left hand corner, the 'Evernote Scott
Name', you're going to come to the homepage here. And I made a couple quick changes here
where I put popular uploads and then even all the recent uploads. So as you see here the first
part of this video series is here for you to enjoy. But the thing I wanted to drive your attention
to, to help you out even more and get connected with me is I added my Facebook page here as
well as my Twitter account here and my Google Plus profile. So if you haven't either followed
me or added me as a fan, that information's there and then below I've added a couple links that
I just want to briefly explain what those are.
My main website link that drives you to my scottbradley.name website, so it's the first website
that I talk about in these videos. This next link is driving you to a website that I have actually
created in the past and the main reason why I created this website is because I love creating
content for entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial people or entrepreneurial people in companies
that need entrepreneurial minds to contribute great ideas. This website is
brilliantbusinessadvice.com and basically this is a content based website that I think will give
you some great value beyond these videos in this channel. Everything primarily on, I call it the
'Go to Online Resource for Entrepreneurs Who Want to Thrive'. So, again, if you're in an
entrepreneurial role in a company and you need to contribute great ideas, this is a great place
for you to go, otherwise, it's going to add value to your life either way.
And finally, the last link that I want to let you know is this Lose Your First 10 Pounds. When
you click this link you're going to be taken to a capture page and this capture page basically is
asking you to sign up for a free email course that I created. A little bit of background about me.
In June of 2010 I hit a place in my life where I was fat, I was out of shape and it was just
ridiculous. And basically over a period of time, I said, "I'm going to commit. I'm going to
change my life. I'm going to change my body." And over the period of time I ended up losing
52 pounds of fat from my body and took my body fat percentage from 30% to 15%. And
basically I just wanted to let you guys know that this is another piece of really valuable stuff
that I've created for anybody that's interested in it.
And in that email course I basically teach you everything that I learned along my journey to
lose 52 pounds and how, it's delivered to you by email, step by step, email by email. And I
wanted to let you know that that is also there for you to enjoy, if you've really been enjoying
the videos that I've been creating for you in this account.
So, little plugs there. Just want to let you know the other value that I've created for you to help
you in your life. So I really hope that you've enjoyed this video. Again, I massively appreciate
you for the time, the attention, everything that you have put into this channel. All your
comments, all your likes and I just want to let you know that because I love creating the videos
for this site. I love the creating the videos for you. I love knowing that these videos are making
you more productive, making you more effective, allowing you to go bed at night with peace of
mind knowing everything's taken care of. And as we go through this four part video series,
you're going to see in the next two videos, the other notes in that notebook that help me pretty
much keep everything straight in my life so I can sit down, I can focus, I can get stuff done, I
can make an impact. And really that impact that I'm making is creating positive ripples all
around the world.
So really I hope that you enjoy this video. Again, don't forget to subscribe to the updates and
be sure to check out some of these links and I really look forward to next video and have a great
rest of the day and I will be talking with you guys soon. Have a good one. See ya.
