I've tried all methods of peeling beans and this is by far the easiest one you can
use at home.
Soak the beans in a generous amount of cool water for 1 hour,
this may be a little less time if you are using brown beans.
When ready, you'll notice that the beans coat is now baggy and the seeds are swollen
compared to the dry ones.
You can confirm that it is ready to be peeled if the beans coat comes off easily when you
rub the seeds like this.
Now let's start peeling!
Put a small amount of the soaked beans into the blender and pour water to twice the level
of the beans.
Press the Pulse button on your blender for 1 second, let go and press again 5 times.
This should be enough to peel the beans without blending them.
Then pour into a big bowl and repeat the process for the remaining soaked beans.
Some blenders do not have the pulse button. In that case, switch to speed 1 for 1 second,
turn it off, speed 1, off, speed 1 off, 5 times and you are done.
Decant the skin this way till they are all gone.
If there are any stubborn ones, just rub them and they'll be peeled.
The peeling and rinsing process took me only 15 minutes.
That's for 750g of beans. It would surely have taken less time if I was not recording
a video.
Soak again for at least 3 hours then blend the beans for Moi Moi or Akara and all other
Nigerian meals that require you to peel the beans.
See you soon.
