Hey Chef Kendra here and today we're making my version of the famous Vietnamese sandwich,
Bahn mi.
Let's start with our vegetables. We always start with our vegetables because we like
to get them chopped and diced and get them out of the way.
We're grating some radish, carrots, and slicing onions and jalapeno.
Now in our bowl goes some rice wine vinegar, now a little sugar and salt goes in.
We're going to whisk this well. What we're doing is making a little pickling sauce. We're
adding our carrots and our radish to our bowl and going to give it a stir, toss in the refrigerator
for 15 minutes.
In this bowl goes fish sauce, soy sauce and lastly some vegetable oil goes in we're going
to whisk this nicely and set this aside.
Now we're going to drain our carrots and radish quick pickles and we're going reserve the
liquid for a little extra punch for our sandwiches.
This is completely optional.Hey it's you're kitchen do what you want.
Now, I'm seasoning some thinly sliced chicken breast with salt, pepper, and garlic powder,
adding a little flour and sauteing it over medium low heat in a little oil.
However, this is the perfect sandwich for store bought rotisserie chicken, leftover
baked or grilled chicken.
Hey guys, if you need the link to this recipe it's in the ABOUT SECTION BELOW.
Now let's build this guy.We toasted our roll now we're adding some of the soy sauce, fish
sauce and oil blend on both sides of our roll. Next up we're adding some pate, to me this
is what makes this type of sandwich unique.
Sure you can leave it out but if you do you might have an awesome sandwich
but it won't be Bahn mi.
We're dropping down some jalapeno and onions.
Guys, you know I love sandwiches and this is one of my favorites. Alright,
we're adding some brightness to this sandwich with some fresh cilantro and
some of our carrot and radish mix.Up next is some of that lovely chicken we sauteed
earlier.
If you want to add a little of the pickling juice now is the time to
pour it on. If you're not feeling it, just skip it.The last thing
we're going to add is some fresh, crisp romaine lettuce, and it's just
that easy.
Guys, share my videos and if you haven't already subscribe. Chef Kendra is out. Peace.
You still here? We'll I'm giving it a little taste and heck yeah, it's good!
