My name is Sue Kafka, I'm the VP of Sales and Marketing
for the Capilano Group of Companies which includes Capilano Suspension Bridge park.
The bridge was built in 1889 at this very location,
the very location where the bridge right now stands.
Vancouver started in 1887 so this is as old an attraction as you will find in Vancouver.
Vancouver is beautiful! I mean look at this and we get to live here.
It's the natural beauty that keeps people coming back and
back. It really is amazing so we're very lucky.
We have to be very careful with our resources
and we have a coarse management program here as we don't
cut down trees, we build around them.
We're always mindful of how to take care of this land.
One thing that we're learning is that some things never change so even though there's
new avenues to communicate to our guests they're still doing quite traditional forms.
Talking to people, talking to the hotel staff
One of the reasons we won the marketer of the year was because of our launch of the cliff wall.
Because of the work that was done on that and the
success of the opening, that's why we won that particular award.
We never sit still, at Capilano we're always looking at new things to do.
We have a very important birthday coming up next year
Our 125th; we'll have a lot of celebration around that.
My piece of advice for marketers would be to listen.
Listening means doing research and really creating things that your guests want to see.
So yeah, listening is very important.
