>> Good Evening. You live here?
>> What's your name?
>> Kim
>> Kim can you move back for me please? We keep getting complaints of noise and underage
drinking.
>> Everybody sit down we are going to be here for a while.
>> You don't have anything sharp on you that I can stick myself with do you?
>> No
>> Good, because I do.
>> ANDREW JOHNSTON - Hi my name is Andrew Johnston here for fab magazine and I'm here
with one of the stars of Magic Mike, the physically repulsive Joe Manganiello. I mean have you
ever been to a gym?
>> JOE MANGANIELLO - No. If you knew what I ate for lunch yesterday.
>> ANDREW JOHNSTON - Well what did you eat for lunch?
>> JOE MANGANIELLO - Mac and Cheese, Fried Chicken and Onion Rings.
>> ANDREW JOHNSTON - That is .... I'm furious at your metabolism. But obviously we know
that is not true. We saw you recently at the MTV movie awards were you presented that award
to Elizabeth Banks what award was it?
>> JOE MANGANIELLO - best transformation
>> ANDREW JOHNSTON - It doesn't matter what it was no one was looking at her. No one.
No one. They were all looking at you because your body is ridiculous
>> JOE MANGANIELLO - thank you
>> ANDREW JOHNSTON - You are welcome. Like if I had your body, I would be naked all the
time. I would be committing crimes all the time.
>> JOE MANGANIELLO - I try to be naked as much as I can, as evidenced by my film and
television choices
>> ANDREW JOHNSTON - Yeah well obviously, are you ever physically self-conscious
>> JOE MANGANIELLO - uh well. Well when you're wearing an American flag thong with a strategically
placed sparkler, I mean sure. There's a little bit that might creep into the back of your
mind.
>> ANDREW JOHNSTON - Well you shouldn't be, you really shouldn't be at all. Anyways,
>> JOE MANGANIELLO - Thank you.
>> ANDREW JOHNSTON - You are welcome. Speaking about your film and television choices that
have involved airing goods from time to time as anyone who watches True Blood has committed
to memory.
>> JOE MANGANIELLO - That's a diplomatic way of putting it.
>> ANDREW JOHNSTON - Was it different this time in front of a live audience?
>> JOE MANGANIELLO - Well you know I come from theatre, so I did in a play in college
full-frontal nudity in New York when I was in college.
>> Sooki where are you at?
>> Oh, thank you for coming I was checking the woods out back one more time. There's
no sign of him.
>> How can Eric be running around in the daylight?
>> It's a long strange story. I'll tell you on the way.
>> Sooki.
>> Sorry. I wasn't thinking. I can't tell you how much I appreciate this.
>> You'd help me if I needed you
>> I sure would
>> You got a scent?
>> Wait for me Alcide.
>> ANDREW JOHNSTON - From your work in True Blood it seems to be very sexualized where
this was almost for comedic effect.
>> JOE MANGANIELLO - This was pretty sexualized, I mean when you want a woman's face and you
are grinding your junk against it. I would say that's pretty sexualized.
>> ANDREW JOHNSTON - Aright then.
>> JOE MANGANIELLO - Anything involving a *** pump
>> ANDREW JOHNSTON - Well let's just get to that then. So one of the most memorable scenes
in the movie if not, the most memorable scene, involved your character and your appendage
and a pump. And so was that you?
>> JOE MANGANIELLO - That was me enacting that scene. I know have the footage for my
"In Memoriam" when I die. At the Oscars so they can show that one. Or maybe me in the
gold body paint or something.
>> ANDREW JOHNSTON - That is absolutely terrific. Also I do have say. That is your real ***.
I was expecting a stunt ***. But that is terrific. But you filled out the costumes
very nicely. If Oscars could be awarded to body parts. I would nominate your bulge for
best actor and McConaughey's taint for best supporting
>> JOE MANGANIELLO - I think there should be two new categories.
>> ANDREW JOHNSTON - There should be yeah. Did you keep any of the costumes?
>> JOE MANGANIELLO - I kept some of the dollar bills. I would come back to my trailer afterwards
and take my costume off and dollar bills would fall out.
>> ANDREW JOHNSTON - Alright but you didn't take any of the thongs home with you?
>> JOE MANGANIELLO - No I hung them up.
>> ANDREW JOHNSTON - Your background was as an athlete, is as an athlete. So obviously
so would have been coordinated. Was this your first time dancing?
>> JOE MANGANIELLO - Like on a for money level?
>> ANDREW JOHNSTON - yeah
>> JOE MANGANIELLO - It's the first time I've had women stuff money in my pants while I
was dancing....
>> ANDREW JOHNSTON - Well no but like learning choreography and stuff.
>> JOE MANGANIELLO - No. Well I had to do the high school musical, when I was in high
school. I had to do Oklahoma. So there was a bit of that. But aside from that. There's
a lot of fight scenes that I wind up doing and they are kind of similar except someone
is getting beat up. And in Magic Mike somebody is getting dry ***. I think that is probably
the main difference.
>> ANDREW JOHNSTON - Just before we go, I think I mentioned that I was from Canada's
premier gay magazine. There might be some gay audience members interested in seeing
this movie, there might be one or two. Was the casting and film team aware of a gay following
for this?
>> JOE MANGANIELLO - Oh sure. Yeah of course. I come from True Blood so there's a big built-in
following for True Blood. There's the LOGO channel in the States and I got a LOGO award
two years ago for my work on True Blood. I spoke this past year at the Human Rights Campaign
in favour of gay marriage. So I'm very active with my fanbase.
>> ANDREW JOHNSTON - Everyone owes it to themselves to see this movie.
>> JOE MANGANIELLO - They are going to love it. LOVE IT.
>> ANDREW JOHNSTON - Alright thank you so much.
>> JOE MANGANIELLO - You got it take care.
>> The law says that you can not touch. But I think I see a lot of law breakers. And I
don't see a cop in sight.
>> Good Evening. You don't have anything sharp on you that I can stick myself with?
>> Good because I do.
