Missouri State University was recently recognized by the Student Affairs Administrators in Higher
Education (known as NASPA) as a Lead Institution. This distinction recognizes the University’s
commitment to the NASPA Lead Initiative. The Lead Initiative focuses on making civic learning
and democratic engagement a part of every student’s college education.
Missouri State offers many civic learning and democratic engagement opportunities for
students, including citizenship and service learning; residence life, housing and dining
services; the Center for Leadership and Volunteerism; and the Student Community Action Team. This
recognition as a top 50 Lead Institution reinforces the University’s efforts to achieve its
public affairs mission. On the court for this recognition is Dr. Earle
Doman, vice president for student affairs. On the court to congratulate him are Missouri
State President Clif Smart and BancorpSouth representative Scott Tennyson. Ladies and
gentlemen, please acknowledge Dr. Earle Doman and the outstanding work of the Division of
Student Affairs. He is in The BancorpSouth Academic Spotlight.
