Hello and welcome to appliqués, the new style in Italian wall design and décor. Today is
demo number four in our series of four different demonstrations in which we will show you how
to use different techniques and applications with the appliqué product.
As you can see by the previous demos that we have on the wall, the first demo that we
did was using metallic foils over appliqués which as you can see gave a beautiful lustre
and sheen to the product.
Our second demo was using tone on tone which you can see over on the right. We used a cornbread
colour for the back wall and for the actual appliqué which gives a beautiful, soft and
elegant tone to the appliqué.
Our third demo which is the one that you see below, we wanted to create contrasting colours
so we used a white background and then a darker metallic colour by Texturline over the top.
Today's demo, we would like to do the opposite, using a dark background and a white appliqué
over it. Now for those of you who have not seen our main demo in which we showed the
application of this large design down the centre, please feel free to refer to our main
demo video online.
All right. Let's get started. So what we've done is we've taken our appliqué and for
today's demo, we are going to be using a product by Texturline which you can see on the table
here.
Now the interesting thing about Texturline Metallics is that they are one coat metallics.
This means that they do not get absorbed by the appliqué and sit on the surface, leaving
a beautiful, soft metallic sheen.
For today's demo, we have used the pearlescent colour by Texturline and will be applying
it to the darker orangey colour on the wall.
So, for the demo, we have already pre-painted this with the pearlescent colour. What we're
going to do is turn the appliqué over and peel off the grey backing to reveal the self-adhesive
backing. So let's do that.
Now please take care to only remove the grey and not the white. If by any chance you do
remove the white by mistake, simply put it back in place so that it doesn't stick to
the wall in those areas.
Now the great thing about this self-adhesive backing is it means no more sticky, messy
glues to work with.
Once this is complete, you can see we have the self-adhesive backing showing on the appliqué
and what we're going to do is take it to the wall and put it with the adhesive facing the
wall.
Now remember appliqués can be applied both vertically and horizontally. They can be used
as borders, in pairs or standalone designs.
In this case, we're going to apply it to the wall vertically. So what we do is slightly
holding it off the wall, we're going to find the correct positioning.
Once we're happy with the positioning, we are going to flatten the appliqué and press
it with our hands down on to the wall.
Once this is done, we're going to take one hand and use it to hold the appliqué in place
while with the second hand to go and to use it to remove the excess material.
So use the one hand to gently hold the appliqué in place and use the other to gently remove
the excess material.
Now please remember initially, the adhesive will stick very lightly to the walls but in
a couple of days or hours, it will become a lot more aggressive and stick harder.
So there we have it, again, a beautiful three-dimensional design on the wall in a contrasting pearlescent
white colour.
As you can see, you can create many different styles and techniques using appliqués and
by looking at the four different ones on the wall, you can see how just simply changing
the background colour and the actual technique, how you get a completely different look.
I hope you have enjoyed these series of demos. So please also feel free to go onto our online
catalogue and browse the various designs. Select and order yours and then choose a paint
colour of your choice and feel free to start creating. Thank you very much.
