>>TRISTA: Hi, my name is Trista
And I am the Director of the Bitterroot Public Library.
And today I'm going to go through how to download, install and register Adobe Digital Editions
on your computer.
And this software is going to be necessary for anyone that um, is using MontanaLibrary2Go
for ebooks.
Particularly if you're not using a Kindle.
So the first thing we are going to do is go ahead and open our web browser.
And we're going to go to montanalibrary2go.org.
From the homepage, we're going to scroll all the way down to the bottom
where there is a link that says, "Software."
Gonna click on that and it's going to take us to this page where, um, we can see we're
doing ebooks so we're going to download Adobe Digital Editions.
This is going to open a new tab or a new window. And it actually takes us out of MontanaLibrary2Go
onto Adobe's page.
And you can see there's a box here on the side that says, "Next steps" and the first
link is "Download Now."
We're going to go ahead and click on that.
And it's asking if we'd like to download for a Macintosh or for a Windows machine.
And we're going to go ahead and click on "Windows."
And, it's asking what to do with the file, I'm going to click on "Save File."
And it's going to save that into my Downloads. I am then going to right-click on the file
and select "Open."
And then I'm going to select "Run."
I'm going to accept the terms of the License Agreement. Click on "Next."
And this has some, um, options available, uh...
The first one is kind of associating the software with particular file types. And the rest is
creating some shortcuts for you to access the program more easily.
So I am just going to leave that as the default.
Uh... This is setting up a folder to put the software in and I'm going to leave that as
the default also.
And then I'm going to click "Install."
And it downloads and installs the files.
And I will click "Close."
And, this is actually saying that I have, um, some older stuff from Adobe Digital Editions.
And that is, I, um... downloaded and uninstalled Adobe Digital Editions on this computer many
times.
Um... I mispeak, or, um... do something incorrectly and so I have to start over, but um...
I'm just going to skip this. You most likely will not see this message, um, if you've never
had Adobe Digital Editions installed on your computer.
And, so it says, the installation is complete. I'm going to click "Done."
And it's going to go ahead and launch Adobe Digital Editions. I'm going to just minimize
this really fast and kind of exit out of here.
You can see it did create an icon on the desktop.
And now we have it installed but we need to create an account with Adobe.
So, if you already have an account, you can go to um...
To this "Help" and say, "Authorize Computer."
And when you click on "Authorize Computer" it will ask you for your Adobe, uh...
Um... ID and password. If you don't have an Adobe ID and password, you can click where
it says, "Create Adobe ID."
And it will take you to a website where you can uh... fill in the form
And um... basically, you know, you create an ID, you create a password, and you give
them some information.
And then click "Create."
And then once you've done that, you can go back and authorize the computer and log in.
And once you have this all set up, you will be ready to download ebooks.
