MS. BOHAN Hi! Welcome to the AMC News Dispatch. I’m Melissa Bohan of the Public and Congressional Affairs Office.
Getting warfighter feedback is an essential way for the U.S. Army Materiel Command to learn what is working well with our Army equipment and what needs to be improved.
This feedback can take many forms, sometimes formal, sometimes more informal. In fact, one of the best ways for AMC to get feedback is through a simple,
yet meaningful gesture: an appreciative hand shake.
And thanks to a program at AMC’s Anniston Army Depot called “Operation Tell Your Story,”
Soldiers and members of AMC’s workforce are getting the opportunity to make these special connections.
The program allows Soldiers and depot leaders and employees to learn from each other and gain a better appreciation
for the important role each play in our nation’s defense.
MS. BOHAN In May 2009, four Soldiers from the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment out of Fort Hood, Texas spent a couple of days at Anniston Army Depot to learn about the depot’s workforce
and its repair services. The Soldiers toured several of the repair facilities including ones that specialize in combat vehicle assembly
and disassembly, engines, and small arms.
The Soldiers recently returned from a 15-month deployment to Iraq and took the time to learn about the repair work being done at the depot
and to personally thank the workforce for the critical support they provide our warfighters each and every day.
Two of the Soldiers also took time during the visit to participant in the depot’s morning news program as another way to express their appreciation for the depot’s workforce.
MS BURDELL If you could just convey one message to the workforce, what would it be?
SSG AULT Keep on with the keep on. Keep doing a wonderful job. Quality vs. quantity is very important, especially in theater.
We stress safety on a minute basis every time that we’re in theater, we’re here in garrison. Safety is the most important factor we have to keep in our lives.
Basicially we’ree very happy with the job they are doing here.
MS BURDELL Thank you. Thank you.
CPT TEEL I just have to agree with Staff Sergeant Ault on that.
Just the quality of the product that comes out of the depot and the pride of the workers is what impressed me at the ground level.
And without them the warfighter couldn’t do what we’re doing. They really make it happen for us out there in Iraq and Afghanistan where all this equipment is going.
Taking our battle damaged equipment and bringing it back up to speed and being able to push it back out in a timely and efficient manner as well.
What happens here just keeps our Army running on a daily basis and it’s because of the people here at Anniston Army Depot that make that happen for us.
Just keep doing what you’re doing. We really appreciate it.
MS. BOHAN Thanks to “Operation Tell Your Story,” depot employees are getting the opportunity to talk directly
to recently-deployed Soldiers about their experiences using the Army equipment repaired at the depot.
The result is a more inspired workforce and a Soldier with a deeper understanding and appreciation for the work being done back home to support him.
Well, that about does it for this edition of the AMC News Dispatch. And don’t forget to visit the AMC web site at www.amc.army.mil
