hello I’m Emily and I work here at Kingston University.
Hello and I’m also Emily and I also work here at the University
We wanna talk to you a little bit about the benefits of
going to University, but before we do that
We just want to use, 5 main factors that we think
you should consider before you actually start thinking about
appling to University. So the first thing to think about is
why you actually want to study, so potentially is gonna
be 3 years of your life, when you gonna go to University
So something you need to think about quite seriously
and actually do a little bit of research about it.
One of the other main things that you need to think about
is what subject you’re going to study.
University is brilliant because there’re loads of
courses out there and at the moment there’re over
50,000 course combinations that you can study
so many of those are gonna be new subjects, so there’s
a lot to look out for and a lot of research that needs to be done
and also what type of course do you want to study
do you want it to just be a 3 year undergraduate course
and there’s also the potential of doing a sandwich course
where that’s usually a 4 year course in the second or
third year you can do a placement either you do it
abroad or in this country.
Assessments are also a very important thing that
you need to consider, so once you’ve graduated, you want
to make sure you come out with the best classification
of degree you possibly can. So when looking at different
degrees that are out there and different courses do look
at them in detail, have a look at the individual details.
They should say in the prospectus and on the website
how you’ll be assessed so if you know you’re absolutely
rubbish at exams, then maybe look for courses, which are
much more about coursework assessment, because you’re
bound to do much better in those types of courses.
Yeah, and another factor that we think is important
that you need to consider is actually where
do you want to study.
Now there’re over 350 different higher education institutes
in the UK, so there’re lots to choose from and you need
to think about, do you want to live near home?
Or do you want to go somewhere totally different and
sort of make new friends and have new experiences?
So that’s something that you need to consider as well.
Ok, so that’s just a really short summery of what you need
to start thinking about, when you start investigating
the different course and University options.
