Hey guys!
The Dashcam Store with another unboxing video for you, and today, we're unboxing the KDLINKS
R100.
The R100 is a two-channel system featuring an Ultra HD 1296p forward-facing camera and
a Full HD 1080p rear-facing camera.
So first off: the packaging itself?
Classic, and clean, appropriate for the R100's simple aesthetic.
But enough about the box!
Let's open it up.
In a word?
Wow.
Not only is the main camera module itself big, the internal display is huge!
The R100's forward camera is designed to actually fit over your rear-view mirror, functionally
replacing it as well as adding a display screen on the left side.
The camera lens itself, which is mounted on the back side of the unit, can be angled in
all directions, which is a pretty nice feature.
We've seen some that only do up and down or side to side, but the R100 does both, giving
you the flexibility of positioning with its wide-angle lens, which has 140 degrees of
forward coverage.
The mirror itself is very thin, so drivers, rest easy: you won't have to worry about having
an excessively bulky module mounted on top of your rear-view mirror.
The menu navigation buttons are mounted on the bottom side of the unit, with their corresponding
function icons quietly marked on the mirrored surface itself.
On the top of the unit, you have two mini USB ports through which it can run power,
and connect the rear camera, as well as an easily accessible slot for your microSD card.
Next up: the rear camera.
Low-profile, and straight-forward.
Just like the forward camera, the rear camera lens offers 140 degrees of coverage.
In the R100's camera options, you can set the rear camera's image to be mirrored, flipped,
or mirrored and flipped, giving you a variety of placement and orientation options.
If you want the camera to film at a normal orientation or you'd rather see the footage
as if through your rear-view mirror, it's simply a matter of personal preference.
The camera itself comes with a 3M adhesive pad already attached and the kit includes
two extras, just in case.
And now, the cables.
The cigarette lighter power adapter feels solid in-hand and used a right-angle mini
USB plug for the front camera with plenty of slack to hide your wiring away.
The adapter also has an extra USB port to charge another device, should you need it.
The next cable bundle runs from the front to the rear camera, and features another right-angle
USB cable for the front, and a slim line adapter to connect to the rear camera's cord with
plenty of slack to tuck away into your car's paneling.
The slim line is definitely a perk!
It makes it a lot easier to run your cable through tight spots without having to worry
about it getting snagged or what have you.
the R100 kit also includes a microSD card, which slots into the top of the front camera,
and a microSD to USB adapter so you can easily plug the memory card into your computer and
pull or review your footage as needed.
The kit also comes with a pack of rubber straps.
Now, don't be alarmed if right out of the box they seem a little stiff: they'll loosen
up.
They're designed to clip on to the front mirror module and strap it over your rear-view mirror.
You only need two, but the kit includes four, just in case.
And finally, you get a lens cloth, a quick-start guide, a thorough user manual, which features
full color images and descriptions and a feedback card from KDLINKS, which includes their support
email address.
Now, KDLINKS' support is very responsive, so if you find yourself needing help with
your camera system, you can feel confident that KDLINKS will be ready to help resolve any
issues you run into.
And there you have it: the KDLINKS R100.
