Hi, my name is Ítalo Latorre
I'm making this video
to invite you to contribute
with a book,
with the edition of a book written by
a diversity of Latin American voices
- WHAT IS NARRATIVE THERAPY?
Therapy from a narrative approach is a respectful practice
with diversity
that takes responsibility and is accountable with relations of power
of our society
it's a non-blaming, non-marginalizing
and non-pathologizing practice. Is a highly effective therapeutic work
that respect culture and ways of living of people
These practices are being very useful in our contexts.
Lots of young people
students of psychology
wants to learn more
There exists a big number of narrative therapy books, but the very majority are written in English
There are just a few Spanish translations
but they are really expensive and access to them is really a challenge, not just because of the cost,
but also because editorials take them out of print
and they render simply unavailable to people
the effort on writing and editing this book
has to be with contributing
with the development of narrative therapy
in a way that students of psychology
therapists, community workers... can read it, learn
and engage in conversations. - WHAT IS THE IDEA OF THE PROJECT?
The idea of this project has to be with
having access to learn about different stories of different cultures in Latin America,
how narrative therapy ideas and practices
are being shaped here - WHY ARE YOU INTERESTED IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THIS BOOK?
we are interested in learning more about how these ideas are being putted into practice
in our local contexts
how different Latin languages: Mexican, Peruvian,
Colombian, Chilean, Argentinian and so on
are shaping the narrative practice.
Is also our interest to learn how narrative practice
is shaping politically
and in mental health field
to people and communities in Latin America - WHAT IS 'PRANAS EDITIONS'?
I work in PRANAS Chile,
a narrative therapy organization
interested in the development and translation
of narrative ideas into practice,
but not in an isolated way
a very important PRANAS commitment
is to contribute with the development
of a community of people
a community of practitioners working with narrative therapy,
and to generate dialogue and conversation
this is a frame to this book as well - WHAT WILL BE THE FORMAT OF THE BOOK?
this book is being written by more than 15 authors
Some of the chapters are:
