Installing DELTA-FL - it's fast, it's easy.
This short video is intended to help you successfully install
DELTA-FL under typical engineered hardwood or laminate flooring.
Just follow along and soon you will be enjoying a warm and dry basement.
Before you start please ensure you follow all health and safety
requirements.
It is not worth getting injured for any project.
You will need just a few different
materials: DELTA Moisture Proof Tape,
low expansion spray foam and optionally
needle-punched geotextile.
a few common
tools will also be needed: broom and vacuum cleaner,
measuring tape, utility knife or scissors,
straight edge or carpenter square.
Preparing the concrete floor for installation:
Sweep or vacuum up all material and debris from the floor.
This is very important. DELTA-FL is made from environmentally friendly
high-density polyethylene and will not go mouldy
or support mold growth. But any organic material
left behind can go mouldy, so it is best to clean the concrete floor prior to
installation.
Getting down
If the floor has
some uneven areas, lay out landscaping fabric first
to reduce the potential for clicking noises. Roll out the DELTA-FL
cup side up, dimples down. Cut the DELTA-FL
as close as possible to all perimeter walls. Do not
overlap DELTA-FL, just butt the edges
and ends together in seal with DELTA Moisture-proof Tape.
Seal the perimeter with low expansion spray foam.
Unlike 2x2 panels, this sealing creates a continuous vapor
barrier
that keeps uncomfortable damp cool air from flowing into the living area.
If the perimeter walls
have a polyethylene sheet under the baseplate just slide the DELTA-FL
under to complete the vapor barrier no additional ceiling is required.
Now simply lay out the foam pad recommended by the laminate flooring
manufacturer
and continue the installation of the flooring according to the manufacturer's
recommendations. Installation instructions and
product information are available at www.delta-fl.com
Congratulations - enjoy your warm and dry basement for many years to come.
