It's very important that you keep your Bearded Dragons hydrated since they do live in a desert
environment, dehydration is something that is fairly easy for them to fall into. You
always want to keep a dish of fresh clean water in their cage. Bearded Dragons do tend
to defecate in their water, so you want to make sure that you check it everyday. If they
do defecate in it, rinse it out with a bleach solution and replace it with fresh clean water.
I put the dish in there empty. It's easier for me to be able to pour the water into there.
I use a pitcher and in the water, I get it out of the tap. It's safe to use tap water
if you get some sort of treatment for it. This is called Repti-safe. This is what I
like to use. I add some to all of my reptile water. What it does is, it removes all of
the ammonia and chlorine and any other harmful things that could be inside of the tap water.
Now, mine is clogged, so I just take of the cap and pour a little bit in there. The recommended
amount is two to three drops per six ounces of water, so I just kind of guesstimate and
pour some in there until the water turns a pretty blue color and then we'll just pour
it right into his water dish over here
and Bearded Dragons do drink quite a bit of water, so you want to make sure that you check
this on a daily basis. Even if they haven't defecated in it, it's likely to be quite low,
they go through quite a bit of water.
