Barack Obama threw himself into the November elections.
He returned to politics to attack Donald Trump.
But he immediately realized he made a big mistake when he said these four words.
Barack Obama Returns To Politics Obama fulfilled liberals’ wishes when he
entered the 2018 campaign.
He came back to urge voters to elect Democrats in November.
Obama claimed Trump threatened American democracy.
So he said Republicans needed to join with Democrats to boot Trump supporters from office.
He claimed this would restore ”sanity” to America.
Obama Attacks Donald Trump Obama attended a rally in Ohio for Rob Cordray
who is the Democrat nominee for Governor.
Democrats believe winning this race is key to flipping the Rust Belt states Trump won
in 2016.
Ex-Presidents do not attack the current President.
America can only have one Commander-in-Chief at a time.
George W. Bush followed this rule by sitting silently while Obama spent eight years trashing
him.
But Obama is taking a different path.
He blasts Trump at every turn.
He ripped Trump at the Ohio rally.
“People are stressed.
And they are anxious.
And it seems that all the chatter and anger on television does not match up to their lives.
And it frays our civic trust.
And it makes people feel that the game is rigged, and nobody’s looking out for them,”
Obama began.
He stated, “And historically, He stated, “And historically, in those kinds
of conditions, that’s ripe for opportunists to try to exploit America’s history of division:
racial, ethnic, religious.”
But Obama crossed a line when he said, “In a healthy democracy when everybody’s participating
and paying attention, and listening, voting, people of good will in both parties, they
call out bigots and fear mongers.”
Although he did not use Trump’s name, it was clear who he was talking about when he
said “bigots and fear mongers.”
Obama concluded, “And then they work to compromise.
And they work to get things done.
But, when there’s a vacuum in our democracy, when we do not vote, when we take our basic
rights for granted, other voices fill the void.
Demagogues get out there.
They promise simple fixes to complicated problems.”
Obama Makes a Mistake Obama’s remarks were supposed to fire up
Democrats.
However, it could have the opposite effect.
Currently, Democrats hold an edge in the midterms.
Their voters hate Trump.
Democrats would walk across glass to vote against Republicans.
That’s why election forecasters give them an 80 percent chance to win the House.
They also believe the Senate is in play.
Democrats need to win 23 seats in the House to seize control.
In the Senate, they must flip two seats to make Chuck Schumer Majority Leader.
Obama attacking Trump could remind Republicans why they supported Trump in the first place.
If Republicans match Democrats enthusiasm on election day, they will hang onto their
majorities.
