Hello, Ujiie here again.
The Elektron Analog Four!
I thought I'd demo it for you today.
This thing...
…is a real piece of work!
Seriously.
WOW!
In a nutshell,
as you might guess from the name,
The Analog Four is a 4-voice analog synth,
as stated clearly right here on the front panel.
One look and you can see,
with all these knobs and buttons
and NOTHING more,
you can do a variety of things.
There are loads of buttons & loads of functions.
"Well, what's the deal?" you ask?
Let me explain some of its features to you.
First of all,
these buttons on the right side,
see?
We have track 1, 2, 3, 4,
for the four sequencer tracks.
One track allocated to one of the four synths.
Each one is monopohonic, though.
Plus buttons for controlling effects and CV.
With these buttons you can mute parts,
or choose tracks,
or do other things.
Ok.
I'll just press the track one button.
And, the sound on track one becomes active.
See how this looks like a keyboard here?
Ok? Sounds good, doesn't it?
Press the track two button.
Now that sound is active.
Press the track three button.
A hi-hat sound.
Track four.
Ah, a kind of detuned
synth sound.
Let's go with this sound.
These 10 knobs here
can be assigned to various functions
via this row of buttons down here.
Right now, the filters are active, as shown by the lit LED here.
See?
And, the main screen shows the filter display.
This button controls cutoff frequency.
This one, resonance.
No problem, right? If we hit the oscillator button...
This *** controls waveform.
Oscillator two button.
Envelope button.
It's really an analog synth.
This row of buttons along the bottom controls all four voices.
At the beginnig of this video,
I was editing parts on the fly,
and you could do that too,
but how you actually program the thing,
is what I'll talk about next.
The actual programming is done using these 16 step buttons,
though you can change the number of steps,
but I've set it to 16 for now.
Ok? It's easy!
Hit the record button.
The sequence starts.
See the LEDs running?
Ok?
Ok. So, what should we do...
Ok how about hi-hat?
That's the hi-hat sound.
So, because the hi-hat sound is active,
the programming will affect that sound.
How easy was that?
Bass drum next.
Super easy.
Next.
Let's do this sound.
First, let's do pitch.
This note.
We'll put that note on the first step.
This one.
And here too.
Ok, E flat next.
Let's program.
Got it?
If you go about it like so, you'll be ok.
Really simple to use.
Very well done.
Basically, that's all there is to it.
Of course, you can make different patterns.
Right now,
can you zoom in here for me?
I've chosen pattern A03.
You might wonder what
exactly does A03 mean?
Over here we have bank groups.
So right now this pattern is from bank group A.
This LED here is lit,
and so is this one, so that indicates
that bank A from the A E group is active.
To choose A03, you hold the A E bank button,
and press button three down here.
See? Buttons 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, etc.
So, to choose pattern A09,
hit the 9 button, and it changes accordingly.
You getting that on camera?
So now we're on pattern A09,
so the sounds used in A09 will be active.
Simple as pie.
Let's give B01 a go.
How about B05?
B09.
Piece of cake.
You can mute parts with these knobs.
It's written in red lettering here.
You have to hold the function button.
Really, really easy to use.
The Analog Four.
You should try one out!
On the rear panel you'll find the output,
and input and other things,
and it can even control CV devices!
Fantastic!
BUT!!!
It's got MIDI too.
Having MIDI is a big plus.
That they included MIDI connectivity on this
has sealed the deal for me.
I've got it hooked up already.
Let's play this keyboard and see what happens.
Now, all I've done is connected the MIDI out of the master keyboard
to the MIDI in of the Analog Four.
What's going to happen?
This is the sound on track one.
It sounds good!
That's track one.
Change the transmit channel to two.
Nice, nice.
Channel three.
Huh? What's this?
Ah the hi-hat.
Channel four.
You can play it while the pattern is going.
Sounds good!
Super!
