It's so hard and 61 years...
I went to Uluru
and...
I was there for five days before I went into Alice Springs.
And at the rock, I made a promise that I wouldn't smoke again.
Quitting smoking is hard, but with the right advice and
assistance, it is achievable and your confidence to quit can increase.
They gave me these different tablets that had come on the market and
I just decided to give up.
You know, cos my kids, like, it was sort of for them,
too, because I had to show them that,
you know, I was trying, you know, to do the right thing.
Your GP is probably a good start to get some advice on quitting smoking.
Or even your local pharmacist, who can give some you advice on
whether to use some patches or get some prescription
medication from your doctor.
But I've been off it now five days
with the patches and I'll stop completely now.
Many, but not all people diagnosed with lung cancer have been smokers.
Many people have quit many years before they are diagnosed.
However, sometimes people are still
smoking and are interested in getting some support to quit.
We know that this is really hard because cigarettes are
really addictive.
The doctor can help you with counselling and sometimes
medication to help you quit.
Another great resource is the Quitline.
