Hi I'm excited to share with you what's been happening
here at DeafHope.
We've established a collective leadership model
with a team approach on the staff level.
I'm really excited to continue developing this model.
On the board level, we've established a committee
to focus on fundraising and events.
We have several new people joining us.
We're excited about working with them.
We have been attending leadership meetings
with leaders from other DV/SV agencies.
We are working on developing a better approach
to ending violence in our communities.
That's a good, exciting project too.
We are also partnering with SFDC
San Francisco Deaf Club
to provide more Public Service Announcements
videos to teach about domestic violence and *** violence in our community.
We're looking forward to many new things
so be on the lookout for more information.
Hello! I'm an advocate.
I do peer counseling,
go with survivors to court and support them,
and help look for shelter and resources.
We also have a weekly support group
that survivors facilitate themselves. It's wonderful.
If you have any questions, emergencies, or need information,
please contact us at deafhope@deaf-hope.org.
DeafHope has been hosting community events.
We hosted a male allies weekend,
a space for men to discuss how they can become allies.
We hosted community accountability forums
where community members can come together to discuss issues
around domestic violence and *** violence.
We also hosted a stage performance, Dare to Utter,
with all true stories coming from Deaf survivors.
We offered a mini-training. Full trainings tend to be 40 hours,
and we put together a 8-hour training
touching on domestic violence, *** violence, and community accountability.
Upcoming events include our tea party
on Sunday September 29th in Pleasanton
and our golf charity on Oct 13th in Oakland.
Please look at our website for more information.
I want to thank our former intern
Aileen for planning to run a marathon
this winter to raise money for DeafHope.
Please do look at her flyer and her vlog and give your support.
