Hello and welcome to Reptil.TV, Stefan, what's up today ?
well, as you can see, we are not at home in the Black Forest area, we are in Ball Python country in Ghana in the Volta region at the border to Togo
in this new Reptil.TV special we would like to show some more information about the ball pythons
about our informal dress code,I'm sorry for that but we have 104 degree Fahrenheit at 2:30pm
where my friend Matthieu has no problem with that as he is used to it
I'm here with Francois Avhou, lets see what he has to tell us ...
I asked them to show me their eggs, which are in this room
they have their eggs on this table, covered by this foil
here we can see the African Rock Pythons
the last recent years they are also ranch these animals
here is a small house snake
the Rock Pythons
as you can see, most eggs hatched already
seeing this you may wonder what he is doing to these eggs but they are really robust ...
here is one clutch that is hatching right now
these Rock Python eggs are bigger than the normal Ball Python eggs
real nice animals, just bad they become so big and nasty ...
we are in Benin, in the bush and try to find a hill, where we might be able to spot Ball Pythons
in the background there you can see Francoise, Bienvenue and his brother
lets do our usual temperature check
we are reading 90 degrees Fahrenheit directly at the ground, at 5:30pm, on a sunny day
these are typical holes to be found
this is where the Ball Pythons hide
here is a termite hill
and as usual everywhere in Africa, our mobile phone is ringing, never leave home without it
my infrared thermometer reads 84 degrees Fahrenheit inside the hole
going deeper, hoping there is no Cobra in this hole, we still have 84 degrees Fahrenheit
as we can see, it is relatively warm in here and this is on wet ground
we are now at Allo-Export in Ghana, this is Saca and Sammy and one of their employees
the are also dealing with poisonous animals, here is a large box ...
they told me this box contains Mambas, lets open it carefully ...
we are now at Oguns-Export in Ghana
this is Anti Oguns, at the table, the boss of this company ...
in the back is Daddy Ogungs, theoretically the boss, but his job is to mainly observe the scene ...
here is the preparation of the bags and the marking of them
today is shipping day and I estimate them to ship 2 to 3 thousand pythons today
and this is the small shipment for my self, 2 boxes with 500 animals each
this is a small quantity, compared to the much bigger shipments into the US
this is now the end of our Africa 2010 special, i hope we could provide good insights about the farming of the Ball Pythons
we introduced new people throughout our interviews
we hope you enjoyed it, see you next time and don't forget check my balls !
