You know, coming in I just wanted to be the best freshman and just work my way up.
And, you know, academically
I've always been driven
to do well in the class room.
It's an honor and
I take it as an honor. It definitely has me thinking about what I'm going to do with it,
and I'm excited for those opportunities.
Getting a recognition like kinda makes me feel accomplished but also makes me feel like I did
my part at the school in helping them get some recognition.
Getting All-American in cross country, you know, I had been working
so hard to get that, you know, four years, it took four years to get it.
Once I got it, you know,
I knew I would have a lot better of a shot at getting Academic-All-American, so,
you know, my grades were already descent, but I finished it out stronger
than any other term I had done. - If I go back to grade school I would probably pursue something more environmental. Well, the last
two summers have been really fun. I've been able to go to Yellowstone National Park and now I'm employed at Gulf Islands National Seashore down in Mississippi, and I really enjoy outdoor and conservation oriented jobs. Augustana definitely exposed me to both of those opportunities through the grape vine, and these connections kinda got me affiliated with these internship opportunities. - I think it just shows the benefits of a well-rounded athlete and student and
if you have both, you can get some things
that helped you
after you're done with athletics and college.
