The Union Pacific Business and Industry Series has brought several high-profile business leaders to speak at the college
and Captain Jeff Ashby’s presentation looks to take you out of this world.
We thought it would be a great vehicle for us, to help not only with the education of young people here in the community,
but also have direct ties to benefits for business and industry.
Captain Jeff Ashby spent 13 years as an astronaut and a NASA senior executive.
He completed three space shuttle missions, including two flights to assemble the International Space Station.
He’s a great speaker, very fascinating stories about his experiences, not only in space, but a top gun, a very very accomplished gentleman.
Ashby currently works as the Chief of Mission Assurance for Blue Origin as an aerospace consultant,
specializing in private human spaceflight and human rating certification.
I was really impressed and really fascinated that having grown up in that era of space flight and stepping on the moon and that sort of thing
that we’ve evolved to the point where that could be a possibility for the public to travel in space.
That is what Ashby is working on, developing technologies to make space flight more affordable and accessible to everyone.
Come see his free presentation on October 25 at 7 p.m. in the Center for Conferences and Institutes U.P. Centennial Room at LCCC.
Just to think of what could happen in the next 25, 50 years is just very fascinating.
Just that fact that our children will probably have the opportunity to travel in space.
I’m Lisa Murphy with this Laramie County Community College Spotlight.
