Hello my name is Jain Kim, and I am a climber.
I am currently 27 years old, and is part of the North Face climbing team.
I am also a Red Bull-sponsored athlete ever since last year.
What has changed after becoming a Red Bull-sponsored athlete?: First,
I have developed a sense of pride that I now became a Red Bull athlete.
And frankly I have been engaged with the sport of climbing and only climbing for so long,
I really enjoyed watching and visiting F1 race and BC One competition as well.
For myself, the events were very good experiences to be able to attend.
How do you get energy from Red Bull?: I really like sugar-free
I drink sugar free during my training and after the training to recover.
How long have you been climbing, and how did you get started?:
It has been 13 years since I started climbing in 2000.
As my brothers grew up, they followed my parents footsteps in climbing first.
So naturally, I started climbing while growing up under their influence.
I enjoy training with my big brother as a coach and younger brother as a coach and partner.
How was your first challenge to international competition?:
It was my first world championship ever.
I had been continuously exercising and established my position well in the Korean climbing competition.
For that reason, I have participated in world championships expecting I would do well,
but I was disqualified with a ranking of 41st place.
I was very shocked and cried.
What was the most memorable game?: In 2009 World Championship in Chinghai, China,
my dream had always been to complete a course in the finals.
I fulfilled the dream for the first time during that championship.
And, I remember crying with joy that I could not even feel properly while going down.
I continue to challenge myself to finish every course,
because of those happy memories, whether it’s the championships or not.
What's the final challenge as a climber?: My favorite part of climbing is
that there is no end in its challenge.
I can keep challenging myself for the rest of my life as new courses are waiting ahead of me.
