Would you like to help someone learn your language? Most of our tutors are also learners. It is very rewarding to help others learn your language and you can even earn points by doing so.
To start with you will have to go to the settings page, which you find in the top right corner in your profile dropdown, and choose the language for which you want to correct writing and host conversations.
If you do want to host conversations, you simply input your available time for 1 on 1 conversations and/or schedule group conversations using the scheduler on the Teach page.
When other members sign up for your conversations, you will get a notification by email and on your timeline. You may also get conversation requests from members looking to talk at specific times.
Request notifications will come by email and appear on your timeline. You can follow the prompts in the request dialogs to either accept, decline or edit the request.
With the LingQ system, anyone can tutor, or become a language partner with others. During conversations, tutors mostly just converse with learners.
However, it is important to make notes of suggestions for improvement directly in the Conversation Report form.
In other words you need to write down the words and phrases that the learner had trouble with and provide example phrases and sentences that contain these words. This will be part of the report that the learner imports and studies.
There is room for a more general comment, and some words of encouragement at the bottom. When you have completed the report you will need to submit it to the learner, in order to receive your points for the conversation.
You will be notified by email and on your timeline of any writing submissions sent to you. You will then use the LingQ writing correction tool for this task.
Just highlight any word or phrase that needs to be corrected and enter the corrected form. The system works better if you highlight whole phrases rather than individual words.
This approach of replacing incorrect phrasing with natural phrasing is very effective in helping learners learn the natural patterns of the language.
Learners can then LingQ these phrases when they import their writing reports. Again, you receive your points after you return the correction.
